Radiator Gone - york

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys just bought a 300zx import, so in a steep learning curve. Unfortunately got the car home and now notice the rads gone leaking from the bottom even when standing cold. Private sale so no comeback there. I need to get it fixed, being checking some threads out, its an auto tt import 94 not sure if anyone could guide me through who and where to take the car to. Im in york is there anyone close by dont want to drive the car far given the problem.

Hi there, I have used Atkins Motor Engineers in Malton (01653 693610) for a Cambelt change and service and I know they look after other Zeds as well. (they are an authorised Nissan dealer)

Failing that try Vehicle Services in Knaresboro (01423 862215) The owner is a fellow Zed owner and has done my radiator for me. :D

I'm in Harrogate and there's a garage here where the owner drives a 300ZX if that's any good.

You might be able to get a radiator cheaper from Mike at MJP in the traders section on here and get it fitted if you don't fancy doing the job yourself but its dead easy.

I could even fit it for you if you want.

Tried the dealer in malton looking for about £475 and will have to order rad so could be a while. Have tried other rad specialist including 24/7 spares and can get a replacement new rad for £165 which will need me to sort the fitting. Cheapy rads ok or are they more trouble that there worth? anyone know where I will find fitting guidance

TBH mate I wouldn't cut corners too much on any work on these cars. :)

You could try one of the Forum's breakers or put a Wanted post up for a TT rad.

Also Walkers Nr. Northallerton (01609 777221) custom build rads - not sure how much it'll be for one for the Zed tho'. http://www.walkers-garage.co.uk/radiators.htm

Note the PT Cruiser at the bottom of the web page

few things to check before you splash your dosh,is it a Jap import if so see if it has a aftermarket gearbox oil cooler fitted, if it has you can get a standard tt radiator as a replacement rather than a auto one. If not seriously think about fitting one as the standard cooler is crap on jap specs

Yes its a jap import, not sure about an aftermarket oil cooler, there are a couple of smaller pipes coming of the rad on the righthand side as i face the car. Heard a lot about Koyo rads but could find much on the web do they make one with the intergrate autobox cooler or do you have to fit the aftermarket job. Any links you could let me have would be good.

the two small rads you see in the nose of my car , the small one you see at the front was the oil cooler , I then fitted the larger rad behind it as a oil cooler and used the smaller one as a upgrade to the gearbox oil cooler, if you have something like this set up at the front of yours likelihood is one of em is a gearbox oil cooler.

Hi guys thanx for all your help so far. Took the top hose off last night seems to be the plastic housing the holds the rad and conects the pipes on the top left thats the problem. The clip must have been overtightened over the years and the plastic nozzle that the top hose connects to is perished and has big lump missing. Presume this is intergral to the rad and will still therefore require a new rad or is it a separate part altogether?????????????

Mine failed like that on the bottom hose.

I'm sure it's all in one so you need a new rad I'm afraid unless you can bodge the connection somehow - depends how big a hole you've got LOL

The traders on here can supply a Koyo rad so would be silly to pay the same for a crappy little Nissan one.

Swapping to a proper auto box cooler will prolong the life of your box so if you can do it for the same price as getting Nissan to fit the rad then I'd do that.

A lot of import auto boxes fail within months of people buying them without a proper UK/European cooler setup.

Fitting the rad really is an easy job - just unbolt the top brackets where the bonnet stay clips in, unfasten the top and bottom pipes and the 2 cooler pipes off the side and it lifts out.

Plus you'll do a better job than most Nissan main stealers!

Anyone know where to get a Howe radiator in the uk.

I got mine from Z1 Motorsports in U.S and not seen anyone selling them here.

To be honest the quality of the Koyo ones is better and mine arrived twisted and warped and it must have left the factory like that.

It's a huge rad and works great but would have been nice if it was straight LOL
