im a very happy person today my car passed our National Car Test yesterday, this is like your MOT, except its every 2 years for any car more than 4 years old.

my nct disc was out of date nearly 2 years (their not too strict over here) and its not required for taxing or insuring your car,

anyway the car sailed through, here are some of the results

side/slip alignment test front axle -2m/km rear-10m/km

fail is front+14 to -14 back+18 to -18 outside

suspension test

fr axle nearside 31mm offside 29mm imbalance 6%

rr axle " 25mm " 26mm " 4% above 30% fail

brake effort 65% less than 55% is fail

parking 45% " " 16% " "

exhaust emmissions (limits depend on year of manufacture)

engine/oil temp. 110 c

low idle (760rpm) CO 2.46 vol% above 3.5 is fail

HC 119ppm above 750ppm is fail

wish i could use a scanner, im just curious how do these readings and limits compere to the ones on yor MOT. is there much difference? all the other stuff is visual, tyres, seatbels spare wheel etc etc. also headlight aim was passed
