Roof panels when removed

What do you do with your roof panels when you take them off?

Risk it and leave them at home? or

Take them with you?

I'm concerned about the damage, both to car and panel, putting them in the boot. I use, both the boot cargo straps and a small blanket, but they still move about alot!

I thought I read somewhere about 'covers' for them, if this is the case, who supplies them?

Your car should have come with covers? they are standard.

Someone does aftermarket ones, and if they still move around in the boot after you have strapped them in, you are doing it the wrong way.

The Zeds came with a t-top bag to put them in and then secure in the boot.

Over the years they get missplaced/lost.

I know that Ztoys in the states sells them but I'm sure someone over here must be able to get them.

I dont have a t-top bag so I put them in the boot, one on top the other(in a sort of 69 position!) and have the straps tight.

It's turning out that many 'standard items' for my Z are missing.

You put them left to right or up and down? (Left to right being across the car).

Ztoys, here I come....

Hi,

Me again. I've got some original 300ZX covers. I can do the pair for £30 if you're interested.

Thanks

AndyZ

The first panel goes in with the long glass edge facing (middle edge) towards you but positioned so that the two strap edges when tightened will strap over it. Then use a thickish (30mm) piece of foam to place over it and then the other targa on top but in a 69 position in relation to the bottom targa ie thick edge with catch housing towards you. Then placing something (targa bags)over this, especially where the straps come over the targa panel edges, to protect the top panel from damage when the straps are tightened. Using a piece of foam between the panels help to protect the bottom panel from possible damage from the top panel, provide a non-slip surface for the top panel and so stop it from slipping loose, and to allow the straps to be tightened to compress the foam and in doing so will keep the targa roofs together when the car is in motion. You could also have a piece of foam under the bottom targa top as well I suppose.

I hope this helps. I hope this makes sense...........I must learn to use my words more sparingly.

Laterz,

Van

ijust throw them in the back seat that way you dont even need to get out of the car to put them back on

I managed to get the bags from AndyZ(cheers mate) but there aren't any straps in my boot to hod them down.

Also have amp and sub in the boot so I just put one in the boot and one on the back seat.
