Ive searched untill my fingers hurt and I cant find a close up picture of a ZED without the front bumper, does anyone have one please?

I wanted to know what the tiny rad in front of the larger rad was for (right underneath the air filter) and also wanted to see the pulleys and which one is for what.

Ive looked at the engine by numbers but it doesnt go down that far :(

Cheers

Can you buy replacments for both of these?

Dont need them just wondered like :D

Also, whats the pully thats directly beneath the fan one ( it goes straight out from the pulley into the fan ) The crank one going by the diagram?

Thats excellent wozzer :D

I have one more little rad then you have there though  Its a tiny strip one that goes about an inch high and along the width of the oil one like turboz said. Have you removed yours?

You can get uprated oil coolers no problem. Power Steering cooler I dont believe we need one in the UK and the pulley your on about is the drive pulley i think. You can get underdrive pulley's to replace them if you wanted

this is my mate's TT...hope this can help ..;);)

That fan shaped thing behind the first rad is that a moving part?

Is there two fans? One on either side of the largest radiator?

The fan nearest to the engine is your vicous fan and the other one (the electric one) is for the air con system & additional cooling for the water rad if needed.

Ive had my air -con removed and an underdrive pulley set fitted but things arnt going too well :(

I know the high pitched pig being killed is the underdrives which usually goes pretty quickly but today the noise that sounds like you sticking a stick into a moving part started!

PS: Thanks a million for all the replys :duffer: :duffer: Reminds me whats so great about this place :D

Helping out an idiot like me is really appreciated lads!

Souds very much like you've got a wire/pull(zip)tie/fastening intruding into the Air-Con fan area, hence the noise.

Dave

doesnt explain why it keeps doing it after the engine stops, does the whine increase with engine revs, is it the electric fan on the front of the engine cause you can make that work if you have disturbed the temp sensor wiring and the fan blades might be catching on something

I would of said something is not right with your viscous fan. It should be moving, but the clip only shows it at the end as the engine is turned off. Mine spins for a bit after turn off. does your's move at all whilst running?

EDIT: Just saw the 2nd video :smash: i'm not sure it should stop dead after you kill the engine, but then I ain't no mechanic!!!

For a start it sounds as though a belt is loose, that would explain the high pitch squile. Im also inclined to go for the electric auxillery fan running constantly that would be the lower pitch mmmmmm noise as it sounds electric to me plus it is the only thing that can carry on running after the Engine is switched off, as already been said the plades are catching on something. To check, take off head light panel, this will expose air filter intk~instlld~2.JPG

You cant see it in the pic, but behind the filter you will see a black plastic fan, thats the aux fan, depending on what air filter you have you might be able to get your hand down to spin the fan to hear if it is catching, if not remove the air filter by loosening the 2 large jubilee clips (yellow arrows) either side of the T piece (pic) but first you will need to disconect the MAF square with blue dot in pic, but be carefull not to lose retaining clip. If you feel the fan catching, thats your problem, if not unplug the fan (grey connector down right hand side, i think) as it could be the motor. Replace air filter and connect MAF and start the engine if no noise when the fan isnt spinning your fan is fooked and its that what you can hear running all the time, which it shouldnt. Which means it could be the ECU temp sender is causing it and may need a good clean (pic below)

auxfan6.jpg

or it may be the aux fan relay is stuck (relay taken out in pic)

auxfan5.jpg

you can change fan felay over with head light relay to test it but you will need fan reconnected to see if it dont come on when engine running. Good luck wayne :D

Right....

Took off the nose panel and a plug had worked its way across and was catching the small electrric fan, moved it and spun the fan and no more noise :D :D :D :D

It was 10.30pm and the underdrives were still squeeling so didnt get a chance to really turn it over but the electric fan didnt come on straight away, does it only work when the car reaches temp?

Its all sorted now otherwise so thank you ALL a million :duffer: :duffer: :duffer:

Anyway of stopping the under drives squeeling like that? Its the most god awful noise ever.. reminds me of the old vauxhalls

Tighten the belts up bud :D

Aux fan should only come on if car needs it if the coolant temp gets too hot i think its around 103-5 degrees or if air con on sometimes come on if your in traffic when temp gets hot, as its name says its an auxilery fan and only comes on when needed, the TT has a 2 speed fan but the N/A has a 1 speed fan
