Potentially it would run crap! :D

but my radio never went off, how would it run crap, sorry for being secretive, but i want someone to explain to me how it would run and perform instead of me posting my syptons and someone saying "yeah probably" lol (if ya know what i mean)

Well Stella, your the only bloke I know who want's help but won't post the question! LMFAO!! :D

I'd guess radio doesn't need much current plus there's capacitors etc in there that store charge.

I would imaging the car might run like a pig fukking with a loose battery terminal - sometimes anyway.

basically for months now, my car has run like shite, runs rich, uses shit loads of petrol, when cold on first start it misses the revs drop when the clutch is in and if i boot it it wont accelerate when i change into another gear

when it gets warm it revs at 2000 rpm, still runs like shite, when i back off the throttle it feels like it is only running on three cylinders sometimes boosts sometimes doesnt

im getting about 35 miles to £20 of petrol and its my daily driver

does this sound like the cause of a loose battery terminal, as i cant find out else wrong with it (havent had datascan done recently)

i wanted someone to post up some syptoms to having a loose battery termial rather than someone aggreeing to my post of problems

hope this makes sence

Loose battery terminal would probably cause poor running when the engine is under load, the load will always be greater when cold than when hot as it moving cold oil around.

The radio wont be affected as the current draw for the radio is fractional compared to what the engine electrics need.

In theory it should run even worse when you put all the electrics on lights blowers heated rear etc.

The ignition system needs a shitload of power to make a good spark, thus cars with extra eathing tend to run better.

I saw a pug 206 suffering the same a few weeks ago, ran shit while cold and missed under load, turned out it was a quick release battery clamp which wasnt done up.

cheers, will give it a gp with all the elctrics on

i dont think this is the problem matey ! maybe 02 sensor or temp sender but loose terminal wouldn't make it use more fuel !

Try tightening it up and see if it makes any difference........... :slap:

i had this problem a few weeks back never realised till one night came out the cinema in the pouring rain and nothing no lights or that. naturally thought the worst till i lifted the bonnet and the live terminal wasnt even conected anymore lol but in the week before this it had a few niggles when running would stop accelerating at random times ect but its been fine since i got new terminals on both live and ground (mines an auto if this makes a difference)

tightened battery up, nothing changed, but did disconnect tps whilst car was running, revs dropped and nearly staled, then they picked back up and i reconnected, been running fine, no hesitation from pull away or nothing, done this before and it only lasts for about 50 miles or so, why would this happen????

if it nearly stalled then your base idle is set too low.

how do i change that

cheers bud

omg that brings back some memories, get it sorted asap!!

I was driving along the dual carriage way and it come off, lost everything, scary experiance. I didn't learn my lesson though.

I was in the city on a heaving Friday night, at the lights in front of tons of people and it come off and i had to get the Feds to push me out of the road into the taxi bays.

That's not good.

Could be a loose connection, do you still have the connection pin on the tps socket ?

If not try a cable tie to secure it. I recently was having crazy temp reading till i replaced the socket of the tps.
