Seriously thinking about buying a series 3 109 (doesn't have to be though, also Defender 90's, 110's etc). Does anyone have any experience with buying ex-MOD vehicles through specialist dealers or auctions or perhaps could recommend anywhere in particular to start looking (just spent the last hour looking through various sites that deal with ex MOD equipment, not to mention Autotrader!). Ideally looking for something cheap as possible with tatty bodywork/interior but a sound, well kept engine.

Cheers,

Leigh.

not sure you should look to buy an ex-MOD one mate IMO. they will have been ragged by virtually everyone who drove em. on the other hand the mechanics are pretty good on the whole so they shoould've been repaired pretty well

Yep, Paul is definatly the one to speak to, when he's not playing with zed's he's messing about with the 20 or so Landrovers in his yard

landrover yes freelander td4 NO!!! me and my bro have been trying to get the damn injector out for 2 weeks.!!! looks like it will be a replacement engine cos we just can't shift it. so anybody who's thinking of buying

1. bmw 3 series diesel with the M47 ENGINE

2. rover 75 diesel with the BMW M47 ENGINE

or

3. the landrover freelander td4 with the BMW M47 ENGINE don't!! you will regret it!!!!

as alex says an ex-mod rover will have been humped by everyone who ever got behind the wheel but on the plus side you can guarantee its been serviced at least once every six months

It's a bit of swings and roundabouts situation. I did think they would've been ragged about but on the other hand repaired and serviced very well! Hmmm...cheers for the heads up anyway, will send Paul a PM :)

I bought an ex-MOD LWB in '91 and it was sh!t. Pretty objective review there for you.

If anyone else has any buying advice/what to look for/places to source one etc it would be greatly appreciated. Pm'd Paul@SWZ as advised but sadly haven't had a reply back :(

Cheers,

Leigh.
