If not does anyone have a rough idea on what it costs for a garage to set it up and any recomendations?

Im thinking of adding boost jets just to spice it up a bit so would I need to add them before setting up the Apexi?

I thank you :)

Hello mate,

You wouldn't use boost jets and a boost controller, the AVCR is the way to go ;) I never set mine up while driving although I do believe there is a learn mode. What's your email address and I'll send you the settings :)

I think ive seen that one too mate, I wouldnt mind having a go myself but on a brand new engine i dont want to be setting anything up more then it should be.

If in doubt, pay someone else

I take it that its unique to the car so theres no standard settings for the zed I could copy as all i seem to remember is something about pressing a setting whilst in 3rd gear at a certain revs so i cant just copy someone else can I?

Cheers fella, Cant access my inbox at the moment but ill have a look as soon as I can mate.

Your a star

sorry to jump in spongey, but vijay. can you mail me the settings also please as i will be installing the same shortly. thanks.

What's all the secrecy with this? Why not just post the settings up for everyone to see so that they can be archived on the board available for everyone to see/use?

There's been quite a bit of debate about how this thing actually works. Basically, the FIRST thing to do is go to Car Settings and do the following:

Cyl: 6

Speed: 2

Throttle: rising arrow from left to right

Decide how much boost to run. but set the boost no higher than .8 bar (roughly 12 psi) to be safe. If there is an upgraded ECU, and stock injectors, set it to 1 to 1.05 bar (14 - 15 PSI). If there are 555 cc injectors, set it to around 1.15 - 1.2 bar (17 - 17.5 PSI).

The AVC-R has three setting modes, A, B, and OFF so there are two different boost settings. Choose one of them and set the base boost level as desired. What actually controls the amount of boost is the duty cycle, not the boost setting. For 1 bar, try starting around 58%. Higher percentages = higher boost.

It is a good idea to find out what the 'natural' boost is with the system off. Set the AVC-R to OFF (hit the left arrow in the selection mode). Then go to the boost monitor screen. Find a stretch of deserted road and make a wide open run in 3rd or 4th gear (4th goes to ~126 MPH). The boost monitor screen should tell what peak boost was. It should be around 0.5 - 0.65 bar (7 - 9 psi). This will show what the car will boost with no boost controller at all (Good to know). Put the AVC-R in the desired boost mode (A or B), get into 3rd or 4th gear again, and go full throttle again. If it boosts over your target amount, reduce the duty cycle and try again. If it boosts under, raise the duty cycle.

Once it boosts correctly, make 2 more runs in succession (this means wide open throttle). My understanding from LRD VDR and others is this triggers the AVC-R into self learning mode which is supposedly a 'good thing'. Go back to the boost setting screen and if the duty cycle displays '***' then it is in self learning mode and you're good to go.

Another warning: do NOT set the Duty Cycle higher then 75% on the stock turbo's + injectors

The average on a standard Z32 for 1.05 kg/cm2 = ~ 65% Duty cycle

If you need to set it higher then 75% to be able to get to the 1.05 kg/cm2, there's is something wrong with

either the settings on the AVCR or you have a boostleak somewhere.

3.mm/hg is vacuum...a Z32 in good condition should be around -48mm/hg during idle

As soon as the pressure in the plenum starts to be positive (boost) the display should switch to kg/cm2

Here's a small conversion table I made some time ago

Green is safe, yellow is ok whith an upgraded ECU, Red is the dangerzone..

(I printed it out and have it on my dashboard..lol)

PSI Kg/cm Bar

5 - 0.35 - 0.34

6 - 0.42 - 0.41

7 - 0.49 - 0.48

8 -0.56 - 0.55

9 -0.63 -0.62

10 -0.70 - 0.69

11 - 0.77 -0.76

12 - 0.84 -0.83

13 - 0.91 -0.90

14 - 0.98 -0.97

15 - 1.05 -1.03

16 - 1.13 -1.10

17 - 1.20 -1.17

18 - 1.27 -1.24

19 1.34 1.31

20 1.41 1.38

I bought my car from these people Sponge' and they have a very good rep for fixing Jap cars at reasonable prices. And they are local. Ask for Mark and see if they can help.
