i have just bought my tt is standard apart from twin exhaust and air filter but i seem to be getting detonation when at full boost in second and sometimes third im also finding that the car is going into safety mode and restricting the boost but is fine mafter i switch ignition off and on any suggestions would be appreciated thanx

First do a ECU diagnosis test to see what codes it comes up with, if you get code 34 its the det senser.

Code 34 means the det sensor has a problem and will put yo into safety boost, but does not cause detonation. code 34 does not appear when detonation is 'seen' by the sensor, only a failure show this code.

 

you need to look somewhere else - such as boost leaks causing you to run lean.

what fuel are you using - use super or better still shell V max

check your base timing - running too much ignition advance will cause det.

Switching the ignition off for ten seconds or more resets the system. HTH
