I have a cassette/radio stereo (came with the car: National RM-7400) and a separate Sony 10 disc CD changer system. The volume for the CD system is controlled through the radio/stereo. I think it is an original Japanese radio as you cannot get many stations (never been a problem as i always listen to CDs).

Radio has stopped working & CD volume is stuck loud! Taken the units out, radio has a fuse in back but that is ok, all leads look ok, so i suppose the radio is dead.

I haven't got a lot of money but need to get something sorted. I have wired in a basic cd player/radio into a car before but I have no experience with one unit using the other..

Anyone have some info or a link about this. Can you do this sort of thing with any new stereo?

Cheers

Barry

If your want a head unit to control a CD changer u must make sure there compatable via a bus lead. ( lead between head unit & changer )

Do a search online by putting in your cd changer model number & find suitable head unit model numbers & then look on ebay . U could prolly pick 1 up for £20 or so

Is the bus lead a 7 or 8 pin round pin din ??

The separate head for controlling the CD changer is a Sony Head, the radio/stereo is a "National".

There is a 5pin round DIN lead that connects into the CD changer & into the back of the stereo...

Thanks

Most older sony cd head units use this lead, see ebay for head units & check its campatable & away u go...

going on the plug type i think you are seriously going to struggle to get anything to fit that. would be easier, quicker and cheaper just to replace the lot.
