1st July after the Dyno day !!

The drive from St Ives to Lands End got put into a 'worlds best roads' feature on MSN recently :

http://cars.uk.msn.com/guides/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5091363

I'm on leave for the second two weeks of June and will be heading down to see family. Is there anyone down there who fancies meeting up?

We could meet in St Ives or Hayle and drive the road? Perhaps end in Sennen at the cafe on the beach if its open (big car park). Looking at Saturday the 30th June so that more people can get down.

EDIT - I thought a good route would be to go St Ives - Lands End/Sennen - Penzance. The St Ives to Lands end bit gets narrow and twisty but is very beautiful. The road back to Penzance is a bit faster and not quite so demanding, but still challenging and twisty. Best time seems to be the last week in June 24th to 30th, a quiet evening preferably. The only problem I can forsee is getting stuck behind a granny on the St Ives to Lands End part as there arn't many safe overtaking parts. Its a stunning area though so if this happens we could just pull over in one of the many car parks, enjoy the view and have a flask of tea :D

All us Zeds following that yellow Skoda round the back lanes of Conrwall was good fun.

Sorry to knock the standards :D Must be embarrasing not being able to overtake a Skoda eh?...........

Top meet everyone. I reckon its the best car meet I've been on. It really made my week down here in Cornwall. I'd go and drive the route again today if I didn't have a 5 1/2 hour drive back to Kent tonight! I had a huge grin on my face when i got home. I wished I'd stopped on the North Coast Road for some photos. The line of Zeds coming around the side of those big hill roads in the sunset was awesome. The route was everything I'd hoped it would be, even though it was slightly wet on the first leg of the journey. Such a good feeling when you go over the brow of a hill and you can see the next couple of miles of road stretching out across the hills and the misty sunset in the background

Brother reckoned you drove that 300 pretty well - for an old boy. Take that as a complement Ray.

Big thanx to Royal

Just got home guys. Had an interesting run home. Went to the seal sanctuary and then onto stonehenge. Seal sanctury was great, tenner to get in each but you could spend all day there and watch the seals and otters being fed. Shame I can't say the same about stonehenge, 15 quid to get in and you can't get within 50 foot of the stones. Neadless to say I took some photos over the fence. To some up stonehenge even the Z didn't like it, pulled int the car park and it promptly dumped its water on the floor. Somehow the radiator cap came loose and the car spat its dummy. The radiator braket nearest the cap had come loose so the radiator could rattle around a bit. Filled her back up tigtened the cap and kept the speed down on the way home. No more problems thus far.

Have to say a great thanks to you guys for making us welcome and for a great drive. Will post up my photos later. Just have 300 odd of them to go through first.

Darrell and Karen

lol, a z meet looking at a Royals RX7, and your z parking horrendous :x: Sounds like you all had fun tho ;) Sorry I never made it but its the first meet I have had in Plymouth without spending loads on petrol driving to a meet so thought I would give it a miss, would have attended if it had been a different day...

Shelton, that's no Skoda dude! Had so much fun having the ride back with Royal to Hayle flying round the wrinding lanes at warp factor 10 i'm still buzzin and Hyper from it today!! All credit to his driving, fast, safe and perfectly in control - even when some old fart pulled out in front of us in his Vectra!. You've gotta have a ride next time, just awesome!! :hyper:

John, good call. Yes his car was awsome but it wasn't a Zed so I had to call it a skoda! Anyway, as a metelot, Royal would appreciate the banter that the RN and Marines have between each other - even if he has now left. Looking at the tyres on the REX I would imagine he takes no prisoners on the road - they were well scrubbed.

Glad you enjoyed it Jon :) Bit embarrassed that the pics are all people looking at the rex! I wish I had stopped on the hill road for some pics as the line of Zeds looked awesome coming around the hill in the sunset. We'll have to do it again sometime soon :).

Wow300, Bristol ringroad is fun :)
