I had some trellis put on top of my fence today.

A bloke who lives nearby just came over to complain.

He doesn't like the fact the wooden batons that hold the trellis in place are on the outside of the fence.

The other side of my fence goes onto a shared parking area (not mine - for his and a few other houses).

Any idea if I need to take the trellis down / move the batons to inside the fence? They'd be much harder to put up inside as all the posts/struts etc of the fence are on the inside.

Is the fence inside your boundary?

I guess it's pretty much slap bang on the boundary.

I guess seeing as the batons are on the outside of the fence, they're no longer on my side of the boundary.

by law the inside of your fence is your boundry, the otherside, the side you have fixed the trellis to is not your property im afraid so you can be made to fix it on your side sorry to say

Picture if it helps....

i think he should be gratefull he has the pretty side of the fence but technically the middle of the fence line is the boundry so anything on the other side is his but ffs hes being petty thats for sure

oh and get some lawn feed on that grass :D

I cant see what the issue is, you say the other side of the fence is open??, not in a neighbours garden??

I know where i'd tell him to go!!!

The other side of the fence is an enclosed parking area shared between several garages which I guess is private land in some way (although shared between several people??)

Just had another neighbour come round to complain too!

Maybe the first one got him to do it.

*****cks.

cantancarous (spelling) whinging, old fookwitt.

what would he prefer? you had wild parties till 3 am, had offspring that caused havoc through the neighbourhood, what pettiness

Some people have very empty lives!!

some people are so fookin PC , "time to get the crackpipe out and burn the soles of there feet" me thinks.

i'm sure there are people who complain for complainings sake. ffs how much has it really affected your neighbours.

take the friggin thing down and at 11pm tonight when these sad fvkers are just letting the cat in this

What the complaint?? Too high? Or because the batons are on the outside??

Batons on his side.

I just went and had a look.

To be honest the two guys that have complained might have a point. They've stained the fince in their shared area and made it look nice.

The bloke who put the trellis up for me has just screwed uneven wooden battons all over it and they're natural wood colour so they do look pretty poor. And both these guys houses/gardens look onto it.

I'm going to try and get the builder back to sort it. Hopefully without paying him any more.

do what i do, go round with a can of stella in one hand and a fingerless weight lifting glove on the other, then start screaming and shouting for them to expalin their actions for the complaint, but whilst screaming and shouting you have to point and wave your finger in thier faces, but because of the slaver running down your chin you start spitting whilst shouting (always shaking your head in a perculiar manner)

works for me anyway lol

if you put the fence up ask for their share of the money and that might shut them up if not wait till they all complain and let them take it to the long process that the council offers which will take ages before you know it it will be time to renew the fence again

I dont understand why people get funny over silly little things like that!!!

Cant have anything better to do with their time me thinks!!

also i think there is some sort of law to do with heights of fences i had to take down 1 id built (in my own garden) or council would have done it and charged me

mabey you could offer to paint the other side of the fence so it looks nice, they might relent if you do that and the builder sorts out the wood
