Hey Guys

Recently I bought a 300zx two days ago. Its done just over 80k so I think I should book in a major service with cambelt change.

Could someone give me a rough quote on how much i should be paying for a major service and cambelt change, and if its cheaper to goto a Nissan Garage or find somewhere else?

Is there any specialists who deal in 300zx in the south of england as I think specialist tools are needed for a cambelt change that not every garage has.

Sorry for so many questions im new to this car.

ive been quoted a major services which includes cambelt change at a place called ZTECK in Marlborough, Wiltshire they quoted me £495.

Nissan Southampton quoted £480 for the major service + £515 for the cambelt! OUCH

you can do it on the driveway no major drama...and you get to learn loads about the car...no bad thing...but if space tools and time are lacking i'm afraid i dont know anyone in Hants...best bet put a post up asking for Southampton members and ask them who they use for servicing etc

hey welcome to the gang by the way...2 days old :D....just a thought but did the previous owner have a mech doing work...just nab the details off them

Yeah sounds good, I might book it in marlborough is £495 a lot for a major service and cambelt change?

Not really - if it's done properly. ZTech have been about for a few years & I've had a lot of stuff done there: clutch, clutch booster, heater matrix, ps pump, HICAS etc. I have used a Nissan dealer for normal servicing and until recently they were very good (but main dealer pricing = ouch). Check out the Traders' forum here and also there are some pics of cambelt work here http://www.zedworld.co.uk/wizzf.html

Bring it round to me and all I can do is suck through me teeth and go "who sold you this, then?" - no engineering ability at all!

PS Although if you CAN bring it to my stated location, I'll buy you a beer. "I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."

you know on the face of it thats not too bad for a Nissan main stealer...most modern BMW's & Mercs etc are a grand a service and that aint for a cambelt either....thats why Paul C has goldplated taps in his kitchen :D :mac1:

Z-Tech, wiltshire is your best bet mate. They know the car inside and out. I took my 300 down from Norfolk, fed up with cowboys thinking that everything is down to a spark plug breaking down. Ryan at z-tech will sort you out.

I'd would imagine the cambelt should have been changed as its well overdue?

Did you ask the seller if it had been?

The dealership didnt know. The car has all reciepts for services and work and Mot certificates yet a dealership lost the service book and so I am going to get a major service and cambelt change done on thursday.
