i got one but the harness was already there waiting for me which was handy. Was somewhere near the steering column.

Are you having problems?

I put mine down to the left of the steering wheel.

 

Problems? too right.

 

1. Stupid place to put it, I keep catching me shin on it!!

 

2. The damn thing sometimes doesn't go on.

 

3. Can't really see it due to the steering wheel.

 

4. People always say "Whats that? Whats it do?"

the harness i got sent which is the right 1 doesnt fit,

ive seen 2 sets of instruction on how to install and both say different places

1,take cover off near ya knees then remove ducting and its directly above.

2 connect to back of ignition block

harness doesnt fit anywhere!

this is the harness sent,with the harness of my car on the right(doesnt quite look right )

Ive got one and its HKS but its possibly the oldest one in the world its got 5 buttons that say 0.5, 1, 3, 5 and off. I didnt install it it was there when i bought the car and it is mounted by where my right knee is. Thats all the info i can give anyway all of which is probably useless, sorry.

I've got a HKS one and installed it myself. I remember having to cut the connector to get it to fit. It was a while ago now so I can't remember exactly. I'll have a look later and take a pic if ya want.

Jay this might sound a bit daft but you are connecting directly onto the back of the ignition switch aren't you??? In your pic the connector looks different...

 

Also, Rob is right - the harness connector does need to be cut...

ive got 1 set of instructions telling me to look at the harness on the pic(where you have to take out the duckting,well below the ignition)

and another saying the back of ignition?

both harnesses dont fit? ,i trimmed the ignition harness and it looked like the connector for i think its pre 91 zed harness (i have both harnesses and both ignition harnesses dont fit the timer harness)

do i have to connect the timer harness to the back of ignition then cut the wires from the car harness, and connect to the timer harness

like i keep telling everyone im crap at electronics!jay

Nah, it didn't quite fit properly You just have to cut a slot in one of the plugs on the harness so it will fit over the original plug from the back of the ignition barrel. I read that it was suppose to connect under a/c duct too, but it doesn't. Here's some pics. Hope this helps

So how many ends have you got on the harness? 3?

Just looked at mine one end fits in the ignition switch itself, one end goes in what just came out of the switch and the other end plugs into the timer. I had no splising whatsoever

your pic showing the original block to the ignition is the same as mine by the look of it,which harness did you get sent NT-4 for cars after 91?is urs 5or6 spade connectors mine is 5 which is the same as pre 91 harness(my car is 93)confusing

anyway im gonna give it another try,talk about fitting a square peg in a round hole!

here is some pics of the 2 harness connectors i bought with the timer and the plug connector at the back of the ignition block

 

 

top 1 is for 91 onwards zed 6 pin

bottom is for pre 91 zeds 5 pin

 

now the pre 91 harness is the same (5 pin as my harness on my car(below)but as my car is 93 will this matter?

WELL IVE JUST CONNECTED IT!

had to chop the harness to bits to get it to fit!"shocking" HKS you buy a harness to fit your type of car and have to chop it to bits to connect it,and to top it off the harness isnt even the correct 1 for my car,its supposed to fit z32's before 1991.

if this is typical of HKS i wont be buying anymore of their products.

 

Jay that is shite and I feel sorry for you mate...I have seen you having trouble fitting this for ages now! FFS!

 

I have a Blitz FATT from Johnny and on the back of the harness I got from J-Glo it doesn't mention the Z32...I asked the main man about it but he said it will fit! We'll have to wait and see then...when the Jap Dustbin comes back!!! LOL

to anyone who wants to install a turbo timer!!!!

take no notice of any instruction you find on the net.dont know if im just dumb but i found most of them to be totally useless,you are best just getting a detailed instruction of someone who has already done it who you know.

and beware of the supplied harnesses they dont fit correctly!

timmy the main man said the harness he sent would fit mine ok,and he also told me the wrong place to connect it!

(probably got our wires crossed)lol

hope you have better luck than me.

 

trey that was a mission imposible alright,started three weeks ago with getting the wrong harness sent,no instalation instructions(boxed japanese)

then getting the right harness which turned out to be wrong harness and havin to improvise with the 1st wrong harnesss(which shouldnt of fit my car )
