As title, I'm working my way around it all.

Just thought I'd take a snap-shot of the Aero fetures (as I've just discovered how to make it look like this!)...

Vista! :hurl: Remind anyone of NT??? Its like they have taken all the useability of 98, 2000 and XP and decided to throw it all in the bin and make it all unfriendly to use.

Now I've seen this a lot, a fair few people are knocking Vista all the time, I really don't see the problem  Now I know there are software/hardware issues, but that's really down to the software/hardware manufactures to sort out.

Useability? It is once you are used to it, just the same as when XP came out, I was used to NT & 2000, so it took me a while to get used to, other than that I really don't see why people always have to gripe about a new product that they've not given any real time to using! IMHO ;)

At the end of the day, it's on my computer, and I like it so far. Now I'm sure there will be days when I hate it ;) But then that'll probably be down to "Operator Error"!!

the novelty will soon ware off and you will see the not so good sides, omg how slow......

Slow? Not with my Pentium D 3.2 it isn't, even with all the extra 'Power Hungry' features mines running a hell of a lot faster than I had XP running with a Pentium P4 3.0!!

Errrr yes it is and in a lot of cases they're not :headvswal

That's quite a major problem if your business depends on an incompatible piece of software! :mac1: LOL

Well I know absolutely bugger all about computers but it's on my new laptop and I'm not having any problems with it yet (only had it 2 days and not really ventured past getting my network set up) :D Looks cool and is all spangly and new, I'm suckered in by gimmicks and stuff though. :hyper:

I have a copy comming this weekend and hope I can get the PC going with it as I hate the laptop, its too small and too slow.

The words 'nail' and 'head' come to mind. I could make a better operating system with my ass. In fact, after that dodgy curry, I think I feel an operating system coming on

" vista " isnt that a boil in the bag curry from the eighties??????????

LOL - I still buy them!

I've got to be honest from someone in the trade, i loath vista with every ounce of my soul.

I've been using osx 10 and now have a G5 and a Powerbook Pro and i can honestly say from having to work on windows machines (including vista) i never want to go back.

OS X has the expose feature which does exactly the same job and has done for the past 2 years, the new version improves even more on what vista does now and at twice the speed with half the resources.

OS X tiger on my mac powerbook pro is pure perfection.

If you want games buy an xbox 360, want a seriously quick, intuative feature packed os that's stable and doesn't suffer from syware/virus every day, move to mac.

Yep they're more expensive but infinitely better!

LOL - I still buy them!

Steve :)

jees buddy i didnt even know they still made them .....mind you im from bradford and theres a curry house on every street.....its the law over here

it is being slated for good reason.

if you take 2 like for like machines and run xp and vista on tehm. xp is almost a 1/4 faster across the board than vista without the driver issues.

now please tell me what teh hells good about that?

Notice I did not mention the humongous size of the program either.

Sory, but in school teacher report language

Shows promise but must pay more attention in class and stop talking to specky thomas and nergy nigel

Well it works for me :D

And at the end of the day, how many people REALLY use a PC for PC related stuff, other than going on the net?

If, like Nick, you use it for work, then you'll probably buy what you know is good, reliable and stable, and using it for your own work you can invest better. But for Mr Average Windows is what will sell, simply because it's everywhere and almost everything you buy will work on it!

Fact of life whether you like it or not, it sells well, because Mr Gates has cornered most of the market (or at least on most High Street sales anyway)

Anyway this thread started off because I said I liked it, and to be honest I really do so far. For me it does exactly what it says on the tin!

i might think about trying it later on, but i'll definately wait until a service pack comes out for it - hopefully fixing bugs and glitches reported by the users. I migrated from '95 straight to XP - i much prefer the simple no-nonsense approach. i hated using '98 with a passion!
