Mongoose sighting!

Hooray - f**k Bill Gates and the new website - here's my new Mongoose:

newmongoosemay02.jpg

Nice noise and not too loud (bit of a boom at 2,000 rpm so don't use 2,000 rpm biggrin.gif )

Thanks to everyone who suggested one, Johnny who sold me one and Xoticar who fitted it.

(no politics - just thanks).

Cheers - Gio

If you are dispensing with the pussy Gio, can I have the black one at the bottom with the really long arm? FFS it's longer than the rest of the cat.

Nice geese BTW.

Warren - clearly you are a deep expert in the mind of the feline - and we've got three of the little furry killing machines (help).

Jezz - take the p*ss out of Sybil at your peril. The little black buzzsaw switches between "lady muck" as you see in the pic and "ok buster, who bleeds first..." biggrin.gif

Gio and his Magical Cats!

Did your cats learn to fly Magic Carpets or did you teach em? Wouldn't surprise me as you strike me as a Sean Connery Highlander/Warlock type sort of person?

Is the one on the floor still in training, I would of thought the Black Cat would of had a natural advatage over the rest!

Is it true your Z is immortal, trapped in the time space continuim?

Reality kicks in, quickly reach for prozac!!

Well done on getting the mongoose, it seems like the best value Zorst on the market at the mo!

If you want a contribution for the DVLA search let me know?

Altho Craig will probably kick me for not doing this in Price Check Forum, I'll get away with it by not quoting any actual prices!

I got mine from Johnny at http://www.grasshopperprosport.co.uk/ but I hear good prices also available at http://www.cybercraft.co.im/ and http://www.lightman.co.uk/mjp/

I've bought stuff from all of these guys - if you buy, just make sure they are going to support the forum / send money to Craig & Nico biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

In my experience removing the cats makes little difference to the exhaust noise, although I do have the decat pipes with those sort of half arsed silences in place of the cat. It's the turbo that seems to remove a great deal of the exhaust noise.

Pingram. i removed my cats and my exhaust went from 91 db to 104.2 or something like that. Put cats back on and back to 91 db. So im pretty sure cats have alot to do with the sound of an exhaust.

(although this could be down to the type of exhaust)

Andy Thats total bollocks, ask DaveW the difference in sound between his and mine biggrin.gif.

Well maybe you should all listen to mine. Couldn't tell the difference between cats and no cats and I have a Mongoose same as Macca.

I have to agree Iain, a Mongoose fitted to a de-catted Z is much louder than one with the moggies intact, as I found when I met up with Mac in my catted Z.

A new Mongoose (in fact probably any new exhaust) will sound louder than an older one, due to it not having a coating (yet!) of carbon deposits, which will reduce the resonance within.

On the subject of resonance, I found that my Mongoose sounds louder since having a Wings West rear bumper fitted- suppose its the same effect as putting a speaker in a box smile.gif

OK had decatt pipes fitted yesterday to my Mongoose exhaust. No real diference on tickover but raise the revs above 1000rpm and oh yes mucho growling, and over 4000rpm holy shit it sounds great. Also the turbos spool up a lot faster so power delivery is more agressive from low end through the mid range, damn car feels like its had a whole new engine not just some pipes. Best £££'s I spent for ages but I wish I had done it earlier in the upgrade stages. Just prayign for a dry Sunday at Santa Pod this weekend.

Hi

I must admit the mongoose sounds and looks about the best value going. I am probably going to have to get a new exhaust soon, but I have a problem.

I have a Kakimoto exhaust and downpipes with no cat and this looks ok but the backpart of the exhaust is going. Now I am doubting whether I can get something off the shelf to bolt straight on to a SWB with these downpipes, unless anyone of you know otherwise. Somebody posted something about a firm who was reasonable and did custom exhausts can anyone remember who it was?

Cheers
