thanks very much.... only thing is i cant contact him as im not a full member yet. i have posted a thread to try and get his attention.

fix the one you have - if it's because it won't release the key, you can tie open the release solenoid with an elastic band - dead easy.

good luck

fix the one you have -

Good idea Jack....... BUT Adam doesnt have one!!!

Stolen -recovered ...lock smashed off etc

Sorry to hear that.

The elastic band fixed my previous Auto for about 2 years before it snapped and I 'upgraded' it to a sandwich bag wire tie - still going strong 6 years later...

hi i know it is but finding a spare 20 quid at the moment is not an easy fete, the little money i have spare is being invested in the money pit parked on my driveway. and the odd stella lol. thanks anyway. yer i have got the car started now i had to run a wire direct from the battery through the wing to the back of the old barrel as the white live wire was completly dead all the electrics and the alarm/imobilizer works fine just need a barrel. i have mended the front wing and the rear quarter just needs welding up. then the car needs a pro re-spray. then an mot tax and a vim check and its on the road. took it up the street b4 feels a little strange....but i have been driving a polo since christmas. feels like the revs are going too high b4 it sets off?????

yer theres a sort of rely that is attached to the side of the barrel, which i guess has something to do with not being able to start the car if its not in park also if you look at the barrel of a manual theres a blanked out section which on my auto has red and red/black wires going into it i have no idea what this is for, nobody seems to want to hazard a guess.

The relay is there (on an Auto) to prevent you from removing the key untill the lever is in Park. ...not required on a manual.
