always been happy with Pipex & a bit reluctant to change, but Sky seem to be offering some really good deals!

anyone using them? any comments?

Sounds really good if you're on their cable system, (it's very unlikely that you will be). Otherwise, read the T&Cs very carefully to make sure you'll be getting something better than you have now.

no, not on cable! from what i can see you get a good deal tho :)

I have it and TBH its much better than the Orange/Wanadoo pack I had. Its costs me nowt because I already have a Sky+ subscription and I get a faster connection and download limit than I did paying £17.99 a month to Orange for.

The only thing I paid for was the initial connection fee and you get a wireless router chucked in that would normally cost £60 anyway.

I'm happy (so far, touches several wooden objects with everything crossed...)

is the router any good? i understand you have to use their own equipment only - any idea why??

On Sky at 16MB at the moment, Its a Netgear router and is pre loaded to use at your address only. Typical router, ariel and 4 network cable inputs.

I am pleased with the service BUT I had a problem with a faulty router and lost my internet for over 3 weeks, this was mainly due to crap customer support, but, when I was loosing my patience I got put through to their more techical support team who sorted it out with me straight away, and sent me a new router.

what actual D/L speeds are you getting??

Can download upto 1.52MB per second, I would say it adverages 1.35 MB per second though at peak times. Put it this way - to download a DVD Image (4.2 GB) Takes about 1 hr and 10 mins. Can download it faster than watching it.

This is the result at 16:30, will try again later on.

thats superb for the price they charge, is it pretty reliable?? they keep ringing me up trying to get me to change so i may do it ;)

Just tested again and a very slight reduction. There is no limit and don't want to talk about fair usage over the phone I have asked them about the policy. I have been known to download more than 150GB a month :nelson:

For £10 on top of what I pay for Sky telly it anit so bad :p

I applied for the mid version last week : £5 per month for 8mps and 40 Gig download limit and free Sky Talk with free evening and weekend calls . Certainly beats the average £25 p.m. I was paying Tiscali for the privelege of free weekend calls only and regular broadband disconnection . :slap:

I had the broadband mid package for £5 a month on top of our sky tv subscription, it was a good package with decent speed and download limit untill i had a problem with my connection, customer support is crap, i was offline for 6 weeks and kept getting fobbed off, went with bt in the end.

I was with pipex for 5 years........................... Not 1 problem........The only reason I changed to sky was the cost..............been with them 7 months now no problems so far!!!!!!!!! £10 a month, wireless router :-P
