HELP!!! I am getting this horrible smell under heavy acceleration. I fitted a new auto box oil cooler incase it was the smell of cooking gear oil...but I am still getting the smell. Its fine under easy acceleration.

could be the sound deadening buring off the transmission tunnel where the turbos are, check all your heat sheilds are still intact

not enough, but a f***ed clutch under heavy accel. smells like someone's thrown a vat of acid up yer nose.

I have the same problem and i've got a Jap Spec TT Manual. I have spoken to a couple of people who reckon it's due to a leaking rocker cover gasket under heavy acceleration causing oil to drip down onto the turbos causing the smell...... but this is only what i've been told???

Don't really want to take the plenum off and have a look myself, can't afford to take the car off the road as it's my daily driver only to find out it's not

Has anyone else heard this theory or shed any more light on this problem???

Cheerz James

I have the same problem (if it is a problem) with my Jap TT manual. Mines smells like burning wax. I just put it down to a leaner fuel mix as my injectors are maxing out.
