gearbox question

i've finally made time to make my orange n/a auto road legal! :hyper:

i took it out on the public road for the first time today. :nana2:

i've noticed, that it doesn't like changing up a gear whilst im accelerating. its fine at max revs, and changes down when i floor it, but driving normally it wont change up until i lift off a bit!

does anybody have the same problem?

does anybody know what this could be?

it'll be for sale when i get my engine re built in my beast! :D

thanks for any help.

check the tps voltage matey :)

whats that?

cheers

mine can be a bit funny at times, have you taken it out for a good drive, i dont mean until its warm. like a good 20+ mile drive, because i find that for a while (sometimes) mine just doesnt wanna change without a slight decrease in throttle.

It could be that your not used to the box.... because mine has got better since iv had it, now i cant decide if thats due to me getting more and more used to the box... or the car having some proper use instead of being effectivly laid up for eternity and its getting better through use (or my new brakes, or new air filter. God knows, all i know is that its better than it was a motnh ago!)

the car has been stood for a while. i'll take it for a nice drive today. see what happens! (famous last words)!

took it out around 25 miles today. drove ok. dont really think its made a difference tho. i am learning to let off a bit to change up. supercharged mini came up behind me, i didn't put my foot down! must be the first time i haven't given in to a race, nice open roads..............

whats that?

cheers

sorry missed that... yes it is the throttle position sensor, if its slightly out, amongst other things, it will delay your auto box from changing when it should. though i remember my old auto was also a lazy changer so maybe its normal.

the tps is a little black box on the front r/h side of the plenum. without using the conzult you can take a votlage reading from it using a multimeter, but i forget what terminals to take the reading from. if its out you unbolt it and slide it round a touch until you get the correct reading :) try it, it may make your box more responsive... im sure sum1 will be on shortly who can tell you where to take the readings from :)

cheers mate. i'll look into it.
