Jesus my car was heavy on petrol, but now since knockin the boost up and stickin a scorpion on its fuukin seriously heavy.

the exhausts are black and sooty now and there is a puff of grey/black smoke when boosting heavy.

thing is im runnin the car with the orig superchip that i found in the ecu, and the general opinion is that superchips are crap and will not fuel for high boost.

so why the excessive fuel consumption and sooty exhausts?

could i take the car to a rolling road and get them to remap the chip thats in to suit the cars setup or just plug a different chip in

pretty sure a rolling road could help you map the car better and it would be a good idea to get a chip off andyp, john dixon or danny at DTA.

what mpg you talking?

well since knockin the boost up if i drive her hard i,m lucky if i get 20 miles from a tenner

You need to measure fuel consumption accurately if this is to be meaningful.

Have you verified whether your O2 sensors are functioning correctly ?

how do i do that andy

are you the guy to see for a new chip andy?

Fill the car to the brim, drive till you're nearly out of fuel. Fill to the brim and work out the number of miles you did against the amount of fuel you put in. Fuel gauges are not very accurate !

And yes, I'm certainly one of the people who can provide an alternative chip.

yeah but considering i get 10.5 litres of fuel to a tenner. and the average mileage from the tenner is say 20 miles driving hard then i would reckon i,m not getting much more than 10 miles to the gallon mate.

no need to fill the tank

what kind of chip would you recomend. the cars a uk manual with induction and decat, scorpion exhaust and standard injectors i think(how do i check) lookin to run her at 14 - 16 psi

i need a boost gauge too

One of mine of course ! ;)

16 psi is a bit high for std injectors and turbos, stick to 14psi and you'll be fine.

i only get 20 miles to a tenner driving slowly lol (standard boost)

the car might seem to be sooting the back of your car due to the fact that the exhaust came off my car and its always ran rich and sooted since i got the car

maybe it will eventually clean itself out

ive done a fair few miles since buying it allan so i reckon its blown all the soot out, i might be wrong mate

how much for the chip mate posted, will it be better than the superchip i have at the min

20miles to a tenner is very low, a properly set up zed should see a lot better fuel economy than that. It sounds like your boost is too high for your set up as well. I'd take Andy's advice and lower the boost and stick in his chip. You may find that sorts things out. Also get hold of a conzult and check your o2 sensors. The other option is to get a programmable ECU and get it properly mapped on a rolling road.

got conzult and laptop but no lead. where do i get a lead

More like 8.7mpg!

Any decent dyno operator can tell you if it's running rich - and probably make adjustments to compensate.

cheers guys, as always some good advice. will get hold of the cable and run the conzult and check the o2 sensors

i,ll find out how to do mine allan and pop through and plug it in to yours mate

Can I please remind everyone that the above cable is NOT a ConZult cable, it will NOT work with any ligitimate full version of the DTA-Motorsport ConZult diagnostic software and we [DTA-Motorsport] will not provide any support and/or warranty for this cable.

Furthermore, it has come to our attention that there are various individuals who have illigitimate copies of the DTA-Motorsport ConZult diagnostic software. The software is copyright protected, contains copy protection and we WILL prosecute anyone proven to be using this software illegally.

If you have bought a NEW ConZult diagnostic kit you will have been provided with a CD-R containing the full version of the diagnostic software. This is used under the terms and conditions of our EULA (End User Licence Agreement) and by accessing the software you agree to abide by these terms and conditions. The T&C's explicitly state that providing copies to individuals other than the REGISTERED owner is strictly PROHIBITED.

Should you have come into the possession of a USED ConZult diagnostic kit you will need to REGISTER the kit with us. Upon payment of £35 for a new SUPPORT LICENCE the new owner will be entitled to (a) the latest version of the diagnostic software (FOC) and (b) full technical support for the duration of ownership of the equipment.

We will not be providing Support Contracts or technical support to anyone trying to register an illegal copy of the diagnostic software. The software is linked to the hardware by means of a serial number.

The only instance where a support contract is supplied without the hardware warranty is when a SOFTWARE ONLY package has been purchased. This is for use with the DIY consult interface but beware that we will not provide any technical support or warranty for the DIY interface.

I hope that the above is clear. I apologise for hijacking this thread but it needs to be said. If anyone has any question please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to discuss the various option with you.
