My tt engine is stock at the mo but am looking for a bit of a power increase very soon.

I'll change the injectors to 555cc

+ the fuel rail - no other option (92 model).

I'll change the ecu, Air filter, intercooler, exhaust and have a boost increase..

but what changes need to be done for the reliability of the engine and how much bhp should I expect to have?

Basically, don't want the internals of the engine to be changed, but how much abuse can the whole thing take?

.... apart from me swearing at it when bolts and other irrelevant items fall through the gaps in the bay.. always seems to lead to another dimension or ends up in a different time period. Engine bay vortex? F'd if I know!

Anyway, If anyone has any advice on the above, this would help a lot as I can start ordering parts without any worries. Cheers

injectors arnt really needed unless your uprating the tubs IMO, they both max out at about the same time. it prob is a bit safer at high end boost but have been running mine at 16psi on stock injectors & tubs for years now.

if you do change the injectors then you can just get 555's that fit straight in - speak to smithy, a trader on here.

is it an auto or manual? manual will need an uprated clutch. auto box will need an uprated cooler & a fast road rebuild if/when it blows up!! :D

It is a manual, so as you said, an uprated clutch is a good idea. Was thinking of other ways to keep the boost down a bit to save the old hairdryers, but i'll probably change the them soon anyway as the car is now coming up to the 70,000 mile mark.. just as they go pop lol.

If 555's fit in there strait away, then thats cool. If I don't need them at all and your car has been running ok for a while at 16psi, then thats cooler , so cheers for that buddy.

no probs, your only down the road from me, so give us a shout if you need anything :)

Cheers buddy!

speak to "H" at ashford motor sport, thats up coombe valley ind estate, hes pretty knowledgable about the z. I live in dover myself so if you need a hand with anything let me know

no need to change the ecu get it socketed and chipped, which you will have to do anyway to increase the boost and get a electronic boost controller fitted that way you can adjust the amount of boost required. Also the stock intercoolers will start to max out at that psi, bigger intercoolers will be a big help too and really a must if you want bigger power

First of all get the brakes upgraded ...............imo

or just rebuild the calipers! LOL! i reckon 9/10 zeds have siezed front pistons! is so much better after rebuilding them :)

I agree!

They wont handle a hard track session and its always worth upgrading though, but a Properly working stock brake setup is pretty good, and comparable to modern setups.

OK this old chestnut again.

In order of priority

1st BAKES

2nd Suspention Bushings. maybe shocks and springs.

If you arnt rebuilding your engine. Only put the Boost up a little bit.

555 are not needed on stock tubs.

A chip is needed

fit a boost controler or as I have mig tips.

They were the PowerFlow exhaust dealers also, but wasn't that place closed down? I took my old Z up there to have a custom exhaust made up for it. H, he did a really good job on it, but last time I went up there it wasn't open... all the signs and everything taken down. I was thinking about going to that new place up on past Folkstone rd - Sva imports, but as far as Ecu's, airfilters, and intercoolers go, shouldn't be too hard to fit these things up. May need help with a few things, so cheers buddy.

I am also planning loads more trips upto SantaPod sometime, so swap emails and we'll get a load of Zs going up there one weekend.

Yeah, that'd be the old hammer trick to move back the piston when changing the pads! - My mistake

hello bud, yeah the place is still open, but there isnt any signs or anything on the unit anymore, only lke a small one in the window, coz it hasnt ben goin that long. but its well equiped and H really knows his stuff. Ive been up to sva imports just for abit of a nose really, looks ok. but the guy you speak to up there didnt exactly fil me with confidence to be honest, but hey, he might be good. If you do have any work done there, i'd be interested to know what sort of job they did.

Yeah, i'll let you know matey, but if H is still running that place, i'll take my car back up there one day to have the exhaust sorted out again :) The people at Sva did seem a little funny with customers, but they have good car testing features.

Interested in taking the cars for a dyno run there one day?
