Was at Santa Pod last Saturday with my tt Z. Was about to get ready to pull off the line when one of the safety Inspectors spotted a leak under the car . Halted the run :nono: ... Damn.

Later...

Had a quick look under the car and there seemed to be water coming from somewhere where water usually doesn't exist in a Z. There is a pipe that points downwards (seems as designed that way), close to where the waste gate is on the tt models passenger side. Compared it with a NA Z (next car to buy on my list :D ) but the pipe is the same on it also.. but it wasn't pi**ing out - well dripping out water.

So.. pipe that points down to the ground, Passenger side near waste gate that is leaking water. What the hell is it? Is my Z going to explode if I block it for the time being? What does it do?

If anyone can tell me, would appreciate it. Cheers.

if your fluid levels havent dropped to nothing and you car hasnt over heated Id say Air Con, and its the condensation thats being evacuated.

That pipe is the drain for the air con. If you are 100% sure its coming from there then no problem

I had a leak coming from that area and everyone told me it was the air con - but no it was the heater matrix!

more than likely the air con evaporator hose.

or below that you have the biggest culprit of water leaks on a 300zx, it runs directly to the NS turbo along side the bellhousing and is about 4-5" long, swain to do aswell LOL

Cheers for reminding me about the air con! Yeah, it’ll be that leakin out somethin I suspect then. The temperature needle stays right in the middle where it should be and haven’t had any problems with it so far.. Touch wood (my head lol).

I’ll try and drive the car without thinking about the

heater matrix… but it’ll always be their in my mind lol.

Anyway, thanks for you posts. Big help to me there and by the look of the pictures and avatars of both your rides, very nice! Cheers.

Now that’s a worrying one! Lol. I’ll just pretend it was a rainy day instead of thinking thats the cause ;) I’ll take it into consideration though!… 'but zx, pleeeease let it be the air con!!!!' lol

well lets put it this way

if it wasnt the aircon, by now youl have no water and youl engine would of seized at or on the way back from teh pod

If it's definately coming out of the pipe pointing down then it's the aircon evaporator dripping and perfectly normal.

I think you are all correct there. So, for me thats good to know! It was a long trip back from Santa Pod, no probs on the way back and looking at the car, maybe it's just me drooling all over the engine bay in glee at some point (another thing I should have taken into consideration) lol. First glance looking at the pipe, thought 'damn! Somethings come loose!' but when comparing it to another Z, they all seem to have the aircon evaporator. So thanks to everyone for the info on that. Clear to drive again ;)
