Think I may have sorted my car.

ย

Had timing checked and it was 7deg.

Loosened cas and moved it a little and garage rechecked it and told me that its now set to 16deg and thats the best I'll get.

ย

Leaving it at 16 - will cause me any probs?

Power seems a lot more now :)

yes you will feel more power as it was heavily retarded!! unless you are running alot of mods i would set it to 15 TDC as thats how it runs the best but you shouldnt have too much problems at 16 but thats up to you ;)

Mike

at 16 being slightly advanced, you can always knock the boost back say 1psi as it will be the equivelent to running an extra psi of boost in one way or another.

As a guide the CAS adjustment screw should be smack in the middle of the slot when the timing is at 15 deg BTDC. If it's not then something else is wrong somewhere.

ahhh, cas is turned most of the way to one side.

Does this mean I prob need cambelt changing as it may have jumped a tooth.

ย

power is up but still not what it should be.

ย

either a faulty cas or the cambelt has jumped a tooth as you have said.

ย

take the cover off the front right side, turn crank until marks correspond with marks on engine, you will then tell what it is.

Greg, cheers.

thicko mode here :)

Is taking the right cover off a big job?

What marks?

Do I turn crank with a big ass spanner off the underdrive pulley :)

did you have the air con or heater off when you checked the timing.the car will sense electrical load and picks up the revs to compensate.the base idle is 15 deg but the moment the revs are increased the timing starts to advance.

Greg, cheers.

the right cover is held on by allen key bolts and 8mms, other than fiddly its real easy.

ย

then with car up sit a 27mm socket on underdrive, and turn until corosponding marks line up. if marks are out with marks on sprockets then the belt has slipped, and will need the front taken aparto check belt and tensioners

ย

if its fine swap the CAS for another one, and try that ;)
