hello

my name is dave and i just signed up here in this forum. i am seeking for some help regarding an exhaust system.

first off i have an us import 1991 300zx z32 non turbo 2 seater coupe. i was also told it is called a swb...

i live here in germany and they are just giving me trouble here with their tüv- it' a vehicle inspection place. we can't change anything on our cars here with out proper paperwork that is approved and street legal.

i would really like to put on sporty mufflers. but i would need paper work upon these, that stat that they are street legal. otherwise it would be illegal and i would be fined and collect points if i would be caught...

the other option would be to put on original mufflers that are nissan stamped. but in germany i can't get any of these parts, because they only made the twin turbo here and those mufflers are different and the pipes are different. ok i did get them to fit on my zx after cutting the pipes off and bending the old pipes and a lot of welding (see my website for pictures on this) but just looks like crap! but passed vehicle inspection and emissions test!

does anybody here have an idea where i can get 2 rear mufflers for my zx that would be legal for me in germany? or maybe somebody has there original ones laying around and could help me out

thanks

dave

Where abouts are you Dave? There is a place near me who can supply, but as you said, with the TUV regulations, I would suspect that it would be at a cost. I can check it out if you want. I also have some originals lying around, that are going nothing. Make me an offer :)

Actually, Just read that again. Mine is a LWB so not sure if back boxes are OK for yours. Maybe one of the gurus can advise?

i live würzburg germany! yeah the tüv regulations are bad here...i emailed powerflow and they said there systems are not streetleagl for germany. and all the ebay exhausts are also a no go here..

to bad that you have a lwb then they will not fit. the pipes are longer and i think bent diffrent :(

Yes the centre section and tail pipes from lwb and swb are not interchangeable!

Try giving lymon on here a shout he runs the best zed shop in europe and would be able to advise :)

Also another port of call might be DTA in Holland?

Sorry for a small hijack here. But I have a question: Am I going to be ok taking my zed to Belgium with its current mods with regard to these regulations? Or will I be taking a yearly trip to the UK to get an MOT?

I had no idea Europe was so regulated.

got a www. for me to his shop?

Ollie,

I never had any problems with mine when I was in belgium. They do a thing similar to the MOT called the CT. They do pass cars with taped headlights apposed to proper european ones, so I think you should be OK.

alright mate i think u r the guy who was lookin at my powerflow exhausts on ebay under shadyblokemcc. i c that they wouldnt b of any use to u after all. bad luck but dont give in yet ull find something im sure, iv spent over 10 big on my car and im still not finished yet and iv only bought the thing last april, hard to keep these beggers eh. im having problems with the new s/s exhausts and manifolds i fitted but i will preveil im sure of that.
