Hello all

Just ordered some agx shocks, was wondering about fitment?? is it a reasonable job to do yourself??? or have i gotta pay out the £200 the garage want to fit them??? I am gonna combine these with eibach springs, but i getting abit concerned about clearance, because i have 245s on the front the clearance from the top of the 3rd link where the upper camber arm mount from the inner edge of the tyre is minimal, i'm worried that with the eibach springs on the lowering will be so much as to make the tyre and the link touch, which would be a bummer. although the oem shocks are knackered and think this has something to with it??? or is it the fact that the front wheels are just to wide for the arch etc...

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

I don't know about your clearance issues but fitting them is a relatively easy DIY job, fronts are very easy and take no time at all, the rears take longer because you have to remove all of the trim out of the rear of the car because the rear 'door cards' need to be removed and these are overlapped by the ones behind them etc etc

People regularly use 255's on the front with no problem but it all depends on your particular wheel offset I suppose.

the offset for the wheels is e+35/45 Dont really know exactly what that means but can someone tell me if they are ok or not??

I am a reasonable novice when it comes to doing this type of thing but I gave it a go and put new shocks on the back and fitted eibach springs all round. I wouldn't say it was easy (it took me the best part of 5 hours) but I would suggest that anyone with a bit of common sense and a good selection of tools can do it. The only real difficulty I had was getting at some of the bolts as you can't get your average ratchet into position to be able to give it the necessary pressure to release the bolts. A severe beating worked a treat in the end. Gotta say that this made one hell of a difference. Drives like a totally different car. I have also upgraded to 235 tyres on the front with no issues whatsoever and would imagine that 245 would not be a problem.

You will need spring tensioners but apart from that you should be fine. I had to disconnect the rear bolts of the link arms to get the shocks/springs free from the car and if you do that, you need to ensure the adjusting nut and washers go back in the same position. These will affect the camber (I think) so must go back in the same way. There may be another way of doing it but I couldn't see one. By far the worst bit is removing all the rear panels to get at the holding nuts for the shocks.

do new shocks come with bump stops??

AS far as the shocks are concerned, they come with everything bar the top metal mounting plate. You will need to yours again. There is no bump stop - you would need to buy a new one of these separate. I got my shocks from the "www.zcentre.co.uk". I think they were about £70 for the pair.
