I'm trying to design the audio in my car. In the zed I had some JBL GTO 6.5 components running off a 4x45 headunit. They sounded pretty good but I'd get a bit of popping when I cranked up the volume.
Anyway so now I want to spend a bit more on Audio although not mega bucks.
I'm looking into using this single 4 channel amp to power the front speakers and a sub.
Thing is in the mode that I want to use it the ratings are 2 x 55 watts rms + 150W for a sub.
Now my question:
The headunit I have is rated at 4 x 50 watts. Does this mean there will be hardly any difference when I run my speakers on the amp mentioned above compared to my head unit? I'm thinking that maybe the head units wattage is peak power rather than RMS. Or maybe that amp is just a bit weak.
Thanks in advance,
Al
