anybody know anything about this system, as i've bought a tosh notebook lappy and can't get mi cdrw dven dvd to work or be detcted in bios or on system, as i want to install xp pro but can't ..

from what I gather when i boot up IDE #1 is on the black screen which I assume is the cd drive not detected, and i believe that some cdrw need the bios flashing with firmware to enable the drive to be configured..unlike tower pc when you can select master/slave /cable selct etc. any ideas??

can you reset the bios. if not try to get the original firmware and flash it

from the toshiba site mate. if all else fails put the harddrive in another laptop and put windows on from there.

just done that and p;c keeps going to restart page ???? windows wont come up any idea??

does it have jumpers to reset the bios?

not on a laptop it wont, if your cd drive is not being detected, borrow an external one
