Hello All,

Seems like its one thing after the other at the minute, now I have a dreaded ticking sound coming from the engine upon start up, once the cars had a run and warmed right up it seems to clear. Obviously the ticking increases in rate with the revs of the engine. Is this an injector problem or something else. The gauge reading on the oil pressure reads about 4ish upon sart up but falls away after some driving time, But it is only the stock dash gauge and is well erratic sometimes it tells me i have nothing at all, especially after driving on motor way and then hitting a traffic jam it falls right off to almost zero!!!! I'm hoping its the gauge thats a t fault, as apart from the bloody tickiing the car seems fine.

Sticky lifter(s) - do a search for ticking and you'll see some info about possibly curing it with an oil change... also worth trying a capful of ATF fluid for a short while before you do the first change - worked on mine!

Oil gauge/ sender is almost certainly the problem - I was amazed at the discrepency when I fitted aftermarket! Wouldn't really worry about it too much (as lets face it if you've really been thrashing about with no oil pressur it'll be fubar anyway!!) get an aftermarket gauge to set your mind at rest though!

Give your Zed a service mate and i suggest you RTFM.

:D

I had the same worry when i bought my Zed... Its like 'Wot the fook is wrong wiv the oil pressure!?'

But after doing some reading i found out that there is nothing wrong with the oil pressure gauge. When i'm sat in traffic my oil pressure gauge drops to zero too.Its a Nissan design feature, and its normal for a stock mota.

I have had this too, it was caused by sticky lifters as mentioned by Rich.

A simple oil change sorted mine out.
