Strange title i know; but Marcus and me well mainly me as marcus has a good excuse cos he's in a wheel chair, are doing a trans fluid drain from Auto box, after we killed it at Oulton the other week end. :slap:

We have read the thread on this but were wondering if any one could through some light on the stuff we have recovered from the sump filter, see attached pic.

It is sort of fibre based and has very few metal particals in it.

Has any one some thoughts on this. We are planing to put some new fluid in(as it is not possible to change all due to Torque convert holding some)

The plan is then to drop the fluid after a short time to see if this picks any more bits up.

There are two lumps of bits come from the fluid about the size of a 2p piece when lumped together.

Thanks all.

Scubie and wheelman.

Had a couple of autobox failures myself & similar crap was found when i flushed it out.

turned out to be the autobox lining that had peeled off over time ( similar to clutch lining )

Worked a while after each flush but failed completly month or so after.........

Thats why im doing a manual conversion.

Hope this is helpful & good luck

Yeah, presuming it's bits of the clutch pack plates. It blocks the filter after a while and consequently you lose drive. Guess if you flush, clean it out enough times that may stop happening. But ultimately the clutch plates must be toast.

Yep the others are correct its the friction lining from the plates, i had the same go in mine. the other thing that goes in them boxes is the sun gear in the front when they overheat or to low on oil
