...you haven't got rid of me that easily  :hyper:

I've had a chat with my dad and brother and we're going to pool our money together into one decent lowish mileage estate car :D

Primarily it's going to be a 2003 Mondeo 2.0 130bhp TDCI GHIA Estate

50mpg+, 6 gears, comfy and reasonably quick and big enough to lug the rubbish in the back of, tow a caravan and do all the long distance driving in.

£478 fully comp with him and my bro on the insurance.

Which means i can keep the zed as a weekend car on classic insurance, it's having the suspension set up properly next week and i have a couple of spare 235 tyres that can go on in the meantime to keep it going till i get the polished ones sorted out.

So you ain't got rid of me yet :D

Now all i need is to find a decent 60-70ker with tax and test on it in the next few weeks....

hehe, well i didn't really think about it too much till today when i nearly bought a scorpio estate for my dad while i was out, we rushed out to look at it but it sold 5 mins after i left it :(

Had a bit of a chat and he can't afford a decent low mileage car by himself, i can't or my bro so between the three we can each chuck a grand or two in and buy a minter :)

British Car Auctions (5 miles away) here we come! :)

I didn't want to chuck the zed, would have broken my heart not finishing it and i may have found a way to get it sorted out cheaply albeit with a load of hours thrown in.

It's the 130bhp we're after or the ST TDCI version which is 150bhp.

Eitherway with the torque it should be a stonker on the motorways :D

Glad to see you,ve come to your senses Nick :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Mondeos a nice motor but watch for missfiring problems, a workmate has one and its cost him a small fortune to repair, full set of injectors and pipes a year ago and last week he had to replace the clutch assembly at well over £300 some sort of damper built in apparently (cant remember if he had to replace the flywheel as well) seems to be a common fault and he did it on the cheap by doing the work himself..... and parts were bought at discount through a friend in the trade.

I've had a 2001 GhiaX TDDI estate for four years. Nice car but fuel consumption only mid 30's and not the 50+ brochures claim. Good luck with your search but don't expect too much mpg.

I've heard to stick away from pre 2003 models as they're very unreliable. Going to do a bit of research then go down the car auctions to try and get a good value one :D
