'Ello all!

I will soon be off to Kuala Lumpur to attend my best friend's wedding - I am really looking forward to some time away! I am the "Master of Ceremony" and as part of my duties I am giving a speech (well, a few actually). As half the attendees are Malay and speak little or no English I was hoping to pass a few comments in Bahassa.

So, to the point: does anyone know someone from Malaysia who would be willing to translate a few paragraphs from English to Malay and possibly coach me briefly on some of the pronounciation?

Thought I'd ask here before going down the route of approaching a language department at the University in Birmingham.

Any/all help much appreciated!

Regards,

Dan

Dan,

Second thoughts, I had better get his permission. I will drop my mate an E-Mail now and PM you once he replies.

Hi Colin,

Thanks for your help. I've read your PM and won't e-mail your friend until I get your OK. Won't be til next week now anyway ...

Cheers!

Dan,

Go ahead and drop him a mail. He has replied and is willing to help. He did ask me to let you know that both Tamil and Manderin are also widely spoken in KL, but I'm sure he will discuss this with you.

Hope it goes well.

Ahhh, yes but you forget - I'm not British. Us Dutch folk actually like to impress the locals with some knowledge of the language ;)

Failing that I'll try the slow shouting method of communication.

;)

Cheers!
