Never had this done properly before

Ive been qouted £225 for all windows of the Zed excluding the windscreen.

Any ideas if this is a good price?

Aprently its 3 ply metalised tint and not some dodgy dyed films ?

Was that 1 to 2 tint?

They are meant to be best place in Norwich so i have heard.

I thought you could get the fronts done if they let through a certain amount of light?

I am an Autotinter myself, yes that is a good price especially with 3 ply film.

The legal light transmittance on front 2 windows is 75% which is basically a standard manufactures tint (very light) if you do have them done and the police pull you on it, the worsed is, they will tell you to remove from front 2 windows, but they will have to be carrying a light meter which is unlikely unless your unlucky !

Do you know what make the film is they use ?

light transmittance of 75% when you have the rears tinited out really isnt necessary, i have the back and rear quarters done in mine and its plenty.. really

and them carrying light meters isnt that uncommon these days bud ;)

Yeah its 1 to 2 Jaffa

and yes the guy wont tint the front screen as its illegal and will only do the front sides the correct ammount as well.

Dunno what make the tint is m8 just asked him for a qoute.

Think I might go for that then

tbh you wont get much of a tint on the front side windows to keep them legal, you probably will find that they are already around 20% tint, youd hardly notice any difference that a 10% tint makes other than your wallet being considerably lighter.

some of the Scottish police forces are issuing fixed penalty tickets as well as you having to remove the tints, dont know whats happening south of the border, and there is also the question as to what an insurance company would do if they had to pay out and found the windows illegally tinted.

You decide :)

maybe i should just have the back window blacked out and small sides

Get rid of the mirror tint which was already there

Could go for 50% on the fronts, would be a light shade and the police wont notice really.

Did you tell them you needed old tint removed in that price ? !

50 % plus the tints already on the car will probably take it up to around 70% at least, and will stick out like Jordans upper appendages, very easy to spot and will attract attention without any doubt!!!

the "old tints " if your on about the manufacturers tints are in the glass and cant be removed without replacing the glass.. which I doubt very much are available with zero tint.

sorry to refute your knowledge as a professional installer, but as a professional de-installer ive met a lot of people who've been told a lot of crap about the legality of tints and it's cost them a lot of money and inconvenience.

Down this part of the world as long as the police can kind of see the driver they are happy.

Also to avoid confusion you mean it would take it down to 30%

100% is totally clear

0% is opaque

So less % is darker as it is measured as visible light transmittance

As for the legality yes its 75% which is generally the standard tint in the glass.

Yes I was adding the the percentage of tints, you advised on a 50% tint and as I said most motors have a tint already in them usually around 20%, adding up to a total of 70% tint which would allow only 30% light transmission through the window.

Legal requirement is for a minimum visible light transmission of 75% through the front window and 70% on the front side windows. unless the vehicle was first used before april 1985 which is 70% in both cases.

Yes i have one of those leaflets

Its a great shame that people that look after there cars are not allowed to have them looking nice without running the risk of having to take it off, really annoys me, you get these scum driving around no ins, mot, tax, licence etc and they get caught and get a £50 fine.

I had a woman drugged up, no insurance, 3 bold tyres hit me, the police told her she couldn't drive the car till the tyres where changed and that was it, they was not interested in the fact she had no ins, luckly i wasn't in the z

Then i get pulled no space inbetween the numbers and letters on my reg plate and get a £30 on the spot fine, no warning nothing, such a serious crime!!

anyway... Lets not turn this thread into something else.
