remove the dash and remove the hicas bulb. Thats what my previous owner did, the w%&&@er

sounds crude, but that would work!

was just worried if the engine ecu etc would get upset if it couldnt find hicas?

the boost gauge pipe might of been used for your controller mate. the stock one anit that good. i made mine redundant when i put in a boost controller and after market gauge. hth's

hicas light will be on if you removed all that stuff as it sense's a problem with it and is warninng you about it. just take bulb out

hicas light removal wont effect the ECU

and if your engine has been out, you may of connected a hose from the side of the plenum to the balance bar, and the boost gauge hose to the side of the plenum.

Dont take the bulb out as that is used by the low steering oil level switch. Cut the wire from pin 20 of the Hicas control unit (orange wire from memory (careful as there are 2) - unit to the right of the ECU)

You could short the wires for the PS fluid level sensor on top of the green pot so it stays off but then you won't get a warning when the level is low.

You can hear the pump when the level is down anyway and if you have no leaks it rarely needs checking.

When I bought my car with a warranty and had HICAS problems the garage "fixed" it by removing the bulb!

Took it back the next day and went mental and pointed out the missing bulb - their answer:

"It's just a coincidence, we fixed the fault but the bulb must have dropped out when we were working on the wiring under the dash" :mac1:

That would bring it on constantly :D

LOL I knew I'd get it the wrong way round!

Cut the wires then... I'm sure I read you can do it like that just to turn the light off.

Cutting the wires on the oil pot will only stop the low level warning. The Hicas warning that SpeedyS is getting will be from the Hicas control unit. When you remove the solenoids, etc is has a hissy fit and brings up a warning.

Have just checked the circuit diagram and can confirm it is the orange wire from the Hicas controller to cut. There are two orange wires but it won't matter if you cut the wrong one as it is only a feed to the diagnostics port and since you have removed the Hicas, you won't need it any more.
