Hello All,

Going to change the tension rods on my zed to an adj set, how do i go about fitting these, can i just unbolt the old ones and whack the new ones in, i know i will need an alignment afterwards, but will the suspension collapse or something when i take the old ones out, or can i just put it on stand and change them ike for like. If someone can let me know how difficult it is that would be great,

Cheers

Its pretty straght forward.

Took me about 2 hours to do the first time, could probably do it again in about an hour.

The suspension wont fall out or anything, all the rods do is pull the wheels forwards and keep them tight on the horizontal plain. You do need the wheels off the ground so put the car on stands. Remove the rear plastic engine undertray 6x 10mm bolts. The tension rods are bolted the to suspension arms with 2 bolts on each one. Just go ahead and undo these. Then you need to take the long bolts out that go through the bush. These are 17mm nuts and bolts, you will need to reuse these so take care with them, they can be pretty tight. Depending on your intercooler setup you may not be able to get these bolts out easy as the stock intercooler pipework is in the way, tends to be on the drivers side. What i did was unbolted the 2 12mm bolts on the front antiroll bar and then the 2 17mm bolts on the bracket that holds it all to the car. The whole lot drops down then and the bolt can easily be removed.

Once you have the tension rod off you can adjust your new ones to the same length, dont forget to grease the threads on them. Refittment is reverse of removal. :)
