You're merrily working away when a pop-up screen says there is an update for your MediaPlayer - would you like to download it? Well, go on then ...
Download completes, installation completes en then (to see if it all works) I choose to play a video.
Oh no sir, no can do ... Before the video plays Mr Gates finds it of paramount importance to check whether the installed copy of XP Pro is in fact a ligit copy. I always thought my install was fully above board but the muppet who installed XP on my PC must have done it with a bootlegged version. He's no longer "in the business" or in the country so can't go back to him.
End result - no video playing capabilities at all!
Question: does anyone have a copy of Windows Media Player version 10 or 11 which DOES NOT try to verify whether the OS is ligitimate? If so could you point me in the right direction please.
Hi guys,
You know how it goes with a Windows based PC:

Download completes, installation completes en then (to see if it all works) I choose to play a video.

Many thanks!
