It just looks so much smaller and simpler. I bet that wouldn't involve the same heat soak problems because the airflow round the lump and some serious weight savings.

Looking at it I carn't see any reason why it wouldn't just drop in. Though you'd need a live remap.

Someone Like John Dixon proberbly be able to do the remap. If your looking for the engine swap it depends where you live. I always recomend Phil at C & S wood because I've had some rubbish experiences at some other garages, but the work I've had done at C & S Wood has been faultless.

I carn't speek about other garages on here cause I've no experience other than they have been helpfull via the forum when ever I've sort advice and they know what they are talking about.

cool i wonder how much someone would charge, i am only suggesting this as i am sick of working in the engine bay and cutting my hands e.t.c and my turbo seals are on the way out and i thought engine out anyway might aswell ?

thats not a z31 motor ..thats a VG30DET out of a Y32 Nissan Cedric , it also came in the nissan cima and leopard. I have a couple of these lying around my garage.

It will bolt right into a Z32 . Its got larger intake and exhaust ports and a thincker block which allows for a larger bore ....they uses this block in Jap builds to overbore for large dispacement . I think Jun also used this block on their boneville land record 300zx. They also came VG20DET .

the y 32 "cedric" or 300c as they were known here were non turbo werent they? i used to have one.... so light in the ass it was fun to drift!! lol

would you be interested in fitting one for me ?

I think he's out in the Caribean or somewhere mate - and that engine is in New York... ;)

i'll see if i have any busted motors lying around and maybe i can take of the manifild and send them to you...they will bolt on to the the Zed motor once some port matching is done. the intake manifold is still a twin throttle and the turbo manifold has a T3 style flange .......the cams , pistons ,rods, crank is identical to the zed ..so its only a manifold difference you looking at ....

There may be clearence issues with the firewall/bulkhead for the Exhaust balance bar (the exhaust section thats runs from the LH Manifold to the RH manifold around back of engine.

thanks, i am getting a bit lost in tech i think its a bit above my skill level, what would be really ideal is to hand my zed over to someone who could do the conversion lol.

mr vvl do you mean the manifold from a vg30det or the z32 motor. thanks

ok hear is a different spin on things what would be involved to make mine a single turbo set up ? cost effective >?

ok hear is a different spin on things what would be involved to make mine a single turbo set up ? cost effective >?

First you should probably consider why you want a single turbo setup.

Its a popular upgrade for Straight 6's like the supra, but as (relatively) cheap upgrade for Dyno queens..those seeking High Dyno outputs and not so interested in driveablity.

A 500hp single turbo setup has poor low down power with a small powerband and would be slower on the road than a 500hp twin turbo setup.

..and then you have to consider that its not an idea setup on a V configuration engine. A custom single conversion on the VG30DETT would involve a lot of extensive and costly fabrication.

You would need to find a way of linking both manifolds together, and there is very little space for that to work in the Z32 engine bay.

It would be different, but it would be costly and not worth it IMO

The Cedric VG30DET is a cheaper option...if it will fit with the single turbo exhaust manifolds, I know a guy with that engine in a PS13 Silvia, bit of a monster.

James ..i can send you the cedric manifolds ..or even a cedric motor (VG30DET) that has a HKS turbo kit on it. I brought it from Japan and never used it ...but its mad expensive ....

BTW what kinda rear wing is that in your sig ....

How much is mad expensive ? considering i am going to have to fork out for 2 new turbos soon the cost might not be that mad. and as for the wing it is a bomex one and came with the car from japan but i belive you can still get them.

thanks
