Hello all,

After my blowout on the front passenger side my HICAS light came on after I got the new tyre on.

There is a slight veering to the left so will need to get the tracking sorted as soon as.

But as this is my 2nd blowout in a month (tyres new on in December) on the passenger side (first Rear, 2nd front) I am starting to think there is a problem. Especially as I noticed slight wear on the inner side of the tyre 9full tread everywear else)

My HICAS light had never shown up previously so not sure if this is even the cause.

Anyway I read the posts on HICAS diagnostic and followed this. I got the code 7 which relates which shows as 'Steering Neutral positon sensor'.

Now I am at a loss. Any advice on where this is located or how it can be fixed. Or how big a problem this is.

Also after reading other posts I am wondering if there are any benefits to removing the HICAS system and is it a big job.

That's the sensor in the steering column to show what direction you are steering.

If the sensor is stuck showing you're doing a never ending turn the ECU knows it can't be right and the HICAS light comes on and disables the system.

If you have an aftermarket steering wheel then maybe it's not on straight or you haven't used the correct replacement HICAS boss to mount it.

Could be a faulty sensor but never heard of them failing.

Could also be your tracking is way out and the wheel hasn't been centred before adjusting it?

I am get the laser alignment/tracking done next week but wanted to check that this is all it was (as I have no aftermarket steering wheel).

Cheers Chris
