Unfortunately I discovered the floor was looking a bit wet the other day. I have just checked the coolant and that has gone down too!! :(

I just wanted to make sure there was nothing else it could be other than the matrix before I started ripping out the dash. And mines a manual so I take it removing the dash is the best way to go???

Cheers all

Dont discount an engine coolant leak and a targa leak combining to make you think its the matrix.

Is the water in your footwells coolant or water?

Tasted like sh*t so I'm pretty sure it's coolant. :(

Hasn't rained round us for the last week either so I don't think it will be from the targas, unfortunately!!

You can do it without taking the dash out but it is a right bugger i am doing mine later today for the 2nd time (if your replacing it buy a new one dont go the 2nd hand route like i did it will cost you more in the long run) :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal : :headvswal    :

James thanks for that. I heard it was a nightmare to leave the dash in, especially for the manual. Not gonna be an easy job either way tho I don't think.

Have you got a new matrix for yours now??

If so did you get a good price and where from?? Best I can find is £175 at the moment

Cheers

I actually have the same matrix but the seals have gone so i have ordered a new valve and seals from zedworld £50. As for the matrix nad300 had a specially made copper one for sale give him a try mate.

Have a look at: http://www.z1motorsports.com

Their's works out at about £65 + shipping from US and you just have to swap over the existing pipes as theirs is a left hand version.

They have lots of other goodies too ;)

Give them a call or email, they're very friendly :)

Cheers all, much appreciated.

Chris just a quick question when you say swap the pipes over, do you know how are they fixed?? Are they just bolted in place or is it a fairly big job to swap them over??

Its a doddle really. Just takes a full day. Nothing technical or hard, but I do think removing the full dash allows you full acces to everything and makes getting the bulkhead pipe gromet over the pipes a lot less hassle. Finally it allows you to do the job without being Oregami upside down with one foot out the Targa and the other on the back seat.

Honest it looks worse than it is

Also worth checking any body earths while you have the dash out. Bad earths can cause premature matrix failure. Also leaking coolant can cause corrosion on any unprotected connections - such as earths ;)

That's probably why all my dash gauge lights are going on and off now! LOL
