I used to get 17 - 20 miles to £10 driving normal, now i get between 9 and 12 driving normal, seems a bit excessive to me...... anyone ??

what you done to my car :slap:

be there bout 2pm, not taking part tho just watching :)

A chip won't give you 50bhp it's the boost upgrade that gives the power. Anyway, who's spec chip and what other mods do you have ?

Hey..... im a woman! all i know is its got more power :) and uses twice as much fuel

Only upgrades are after market air intake, don't know which and a HKS Super dragger exhaust.

are we gonna talk about open and closed loop operation here cause im interested on the open loop fuel maps on the chips and wether it is just a set map of fuel to rpm or does it include boost info as well? if its a set then with low boost on open loop it will overfuel quite a bit.

Full 3D map for closed loop (boost/rpm)

The same, all ECU controlled fuel injected cars use a 3D fuelling/timing map

The fueling is calculated based on rpm vs load. The load is calculated from the airflow meter reading and the rpm. The ECU has no idea what boost the car is running since it has no MAP sensor..

thats what i was looking for andy, so that means on a chipped car with open loop running the maps will be rich for standard boost and fuel consumption high

No because the MAS will give the ECU the amount of air and the ecu will fuel accordingly. The reason you 'chip' an ecu is to tell the ECU how to fuel at higher airflows not normally accomplished on a stock setup. Fuelling will be the same at lower boost but now the ecu will actually know how to fuel for higher airflows with the expanded maps. Chipping also increases airflow limits as well, although the stock values are already pretty high ;)
