Engines coming out today

started ripping the engine out yesterday. its a fair task!

i was thinking about ditching the EGR and the AIVs as my new de cat pipes dont have the tappings for the air injection. will this be ok?

Dump the EGR, I am, just block up all the holes. I think someones already dumped my AIV's as well.

 

All the electrical connectors are a PITA when taking the engine out, I think most of my time was marking them up!

cool, il make up some small blank flanges for under the plenum. and the AIVs can get binned too as all they do is fill up with water!

 

aye the connetions are a ball ache, the looms so baked and brittle your afraid to bend them too much in case they snap!

I binned both bud when we had the engine out , to blank the EGR take off pipe on the manifold we undid the pipe , cut the pipe to remove the nut off it and i found a five pence piece the perfect diameter to blank the hole in the manifold :dance:

As for the electrical connectors pop down to a scrap yard and rob injector connectors off a variety of cars so the colours match ,

ie Vauxhall are yellow

Ford are Black

Volvo are grey

These all have central alignment ridges , nissan ones have an offset one , you just have to dremel the nissan one off whatever your connecting too and bobs your uncle .

The other advantage is these all have a proper hand spring release system so there much easier to use , cost me a couple of pounds to do all mine :dance: HTH
