can anybody help to put me in the right direction.cheers :headvswal

Hi,

What make of tyres do you have fitted, as some of the budget brands have quite a hard compound which can cause vibration until they've warmed up a bit.

The tyres on my 300ZX suffer from this as they appear to become slightly flat spotted when the car's parked up for a week...it takes a mile or two for the vibration to disappear.

My car has supposedly had the propshaft reconditioned, so it might be the tyres?

Cheerz,

Jez

It's normally the rear gearbox mount. It sags over night and you get that vibration that feels like a tyre flatspot. Once the cars done a few miles the mount gets worked back into alignment.

There's not a lot you can do other than replace it, but here's a way to check that it reall is the mount. Take it off and pack it with hard rubber then put it back on. It'll place the prop in a straighter line but it'll be coarse ie the vibration will dissapear but you'll get a coarse ride - like the road surface is breaking up.

You can also place spacers between the bearing and the gearbox - again it'll solve the problem for a short while but replacement is the only answer.

The mounts last various amounts of time too - my last one did 18 months, the previous 4 years...

Good luck

Jack

Hi,

I bought a gearbox mount and centre bearing for my old Z32 back in 2001.I sold the centre bearing but kept the gearbox mount....Wonder if I still have it somewhere?...Might give it a try.

Cheerz,

Jez

Sounds like a misfire to me which sorts itself out as it warms up.It would give the impression of a vibration if it were missing on perhaps one or two cylinders.
