Right after disconnecting the battery to clear the ECU. As soon as i reconnect it I get a CODE26, which is the boost pressure sensor.

Now the techie info says "The boost pressure sensor is open or shorted(abnornally high or low voltage is registered)

Check

HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

BOOST PRESSURE LEAKS

BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR

Now it cant be a boost leak as there has been no pressure put in the system due to the enginge not being started. SO that leave's the other two.

Can anybody please point me in the direction of these two items to check and how to check/ repair them

thanks graeme

thanks carl. I'm i right in thinking that it will be on the passanger side on a UK/jap car. as that looks like a left hand drive in the pic due the the battery not being on the passanger side

yes sorry mate meant to say thats a pic of a left hand drive, senser will be on the otherside

might explain why one of the small outlet pipe's on the balance bar has a block off part on it

so if i am right and it's gone what would be the advantage of this???

well thats a new 1, would explain code26, does the boost gauge work? Cant understand why someone has removed it, maybe once had a boost controller? you wont get the correct engine mapping in boost without it, it measures the pressure in the intake when engine is in boost and sends a signal to the ecu to map the fuel and timing for optimum performance, i cant see any advantages in it not being there, what does the car run like in boost?

well that just it. i've not taken it for a run yet due to no mot insurance tax just thought i'd check it all over first before i did, No boost gauge as it's a 96Nreg and there's no boost gauge on that model.?

so am i right in thinking that the vac pipe goes from the Boost sensor and then onto one of the small vac hose nipples on the balance bar and the grey plug just plugs into the boost sensor as well???

thanks for the help

is that right no boost gauge on that model?

yes your correct the sensor plugs into the connector and a vac pipe comes off the balance bar (which is prob the 1 blanked off) to the sensor that vac pipe is where it reads the intake pressure from, strange.

thanks for the help Carl
