Hi guys - i've found a place abroad that is going to make me some clear timing belt covers out of polycarbonate (same mataerial used on the rb26 engine and the evo engine)

What i need is a set of original cam covers so they can make a prototype of them, i am willing to pay the these covers of course.

But going to need them quite sharpish

Plus any views on them. As the PTU (i think its called) connects to these - was going to get it placed elsewhere and the holes filled up. Would look better i think or would it look better with a polished ptu on the clear cams instead?

Look forward to ALL of your replies

Cheers

Sure I could dig a set out for you, postage would be pretty steep though so see if anyone nearer can help out first :)

the uk seem to be alot of money - even sourcing a place abroad with low labour cost and low material costs i have found still to be expensive. Not just getting one made though - should get about 25 to 50 of them to sell on more than likely. For example i've had places quote 7000 dollars for the steel mold!!

Yeah if you can dig a good set out - that would be great- can pay you over paypal if know one else can come up closer where i maybe could collect from?

Best of luck with this mate, I know myself and one other member here looked into this and costs were crazy! Moulding/tooling costs were so much that even with a small moderate production cost they still were not viable.

If you are however successful, let me know as i can shift these for you worldwide along with my other products, no probs :)

BTW, cos these are clear plastic, they will get dirty inside quite easily, with a slight modification on the top and centre fixings before production, it will enable customers to remove the covers easily and quickly for cleaning, something you can't do very easily/quickly at the moment.

cheers

need you to email with pics mate of what you mean (eg with some arrows or somthing) because as soon as i've got hold of a cover i've basically got to fill and smooth off ptu holes, if i'm going to before sending product over to them to prototype.

use my email address mav248@btinternet.com smithy.

Yeah, drivers side definitely needs to be removable without taking the water pipes off.

just had an email back from the manufacturers who want to make them for me asking how i'm getting on on sourcing the original product so i can make modification to it for an easy pull on on off and not having to worry about rad pipes. So is there anyone around who has a set of cam covers i could purchase or is it a trip to the scrappy?
