When I'm looking at car ads, I always see what else is in the pic.

Get an idea of the owner and all that.

I was browsing those 260bhp V8 Rover 75 MG ZTs.... wouldn't buy one probably but 260bhp, V8, two year old car for £10-12K...

Check out this ad pic - nothing rude or wierd - just looks like the sort of person's house you'd WANT to buy a car from. lol

Sorry - that's the extent of my computer skills.

Ah well, not to worry.

Seeing as I've started the thread, what do you recon to the MG ZT 260 V8?

I don't think it'd be very 'carbon neutral'. Maybe an autogas conversion would help? It'd be cheaper then anyway.

I was this near to getting the Zed converted to run on gas when I first had it - Government would have paid a fair bit towards it too. Was never sure if it knackers engines or not.

My mates just got a ZT 260 SE - awesome car! Lovely sounding V8, bucket fulls of torque and all the space needs for his family. It's got all the extras - sat nav, TV, cruise, TC, trafficmaster etc. etc. etc. and one of those blinds that pops up in the back window :D He had the 190+ before that and loved it, so naturally he is like a pig in poo with the V8.

As I understand it, they were basically designed and built by BMW, so the usualy Rover issues are not relevant to them. Put it this way, I'd have one :)

Oh, he got the blue flippy paint one too - Chromatic Typhoon! :s

Aren't they FWD though?

260bhp for a V8 in today's terms is pretty lack lustre really.

Nope, the V8's are RWD. But yes, the engine is very lazy, but can handle LOADS more power if you felt like fettling with it (e.g. a company does a supercharger kit, drive-in-drive-out for a grand which up's the output to a 'reliable' 350 bhp - allegedly)

Still not particularly fantastic when the Monaro VXR is producing 400bhp without forced induction and the supercharged versions are just over 500bhp. Different cars thought I guess.

Its a £10K car and you won't get a Monaro for that. + thet Ford lump will pull 500bhp without supercharger with the right mods. The original Prototype was running at 430bhp without.

Now that's a sweet motor for under 10k. I was looking at one of those before I bought the zed. Lovely motor!! Only problem being it's a beemer :headvswal

Meh, so's a 'good' BMW 840. ;)

Yep but the 840 will proberbly cost that much every year to maintain.

My Misiss had a 740SE and it cost about £6K a years in sevice tyres and general maintanence. Made the Zed look cheep to run.
