Buying Help For A N00b

Hi guys,

Just making a thread first to introduce myself :D and secondly to ask for buying advice:

I want to know as much as possible about everything but every little tip will be appreciated.

As soon as I sell my house and move I should have some funds to purchase my first 300zx, I want to know which year is best to buy, Is it possible to get good uk cars, how much does imports add to insurance (generally), best for trim etc etc...........

Cheerz guys

p.s. I am getting a TT

First things first.... Welcome, you've come to the right place ;)

Second, the Buyers guide >> here >> http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm

print it out, and take it with you when you go to view one!! I did, best bit of advice I got at the time.

As for year.......

Differences between years >> http://www.300zx.org.uk/model_variations.htm

And a good source of general info >> http://www.300zx.org.uk/

Import and UK spec, well that'll depend on you quite a lot as well, age, length of driving, driving history, where you live, in fact all the usual stuff.

You could always ask if someone near you, that is a member on here, would consider coming with you on a viewing, maybe for a pint or two!!

My personal advice, read! Read as much as you can on here, do your research, know what you want before you actually start looking, as there are quite a lot out there. Also, decide on your top budget price, adding the usual stuff like insurance and how much you'll be using it etc.

Best of luck.

Dave

Thanks Dave lots of good help there!

I'm on here every back shift, I try and take in as much as poss.

Anybody else?

the one thing i can say is START with a standerd zed TT manuel and do the mod's yourself ( or one of the zed garage's on the site ) as you will know how your car feel's and handel's each time you have an up-graded......

and look for a car with all the paper work,,ie,,old mot's tax disc's ,serive history....
