we have had a very large no of customers coming into us with O2 sensor failures in the last week or so (on Mercedes), all indications seem to point to a problem with Tesco's fuel (at least here in Kent) although this has not yet been confirmed.

I have just been on the phone to Tradings Standards who confirm that they have had very large nos of complaints accross all manufacturers

please be aware as I know many people use Tescos 99RON fuel!!!

I'm lucky in that i've never in my life seen tesco 99 ron fuel lol

I fill up with tesco 97 ron usually and today Texaco 97.

It's 9 miles to the nearest stockist

Either way i'll stick well clear of tesco petrol for the time being  lol

Thanks for posting Paul. Ummm.... might that explain why my Mercedes 190E won't start then? And has this been confirmed yet?

Cheers,

Bart

Cheer for the heads up.

If any of you are after petrol station locations try the link at the bottom of my sig.

It gives the nearest location of the cheapest stations.

Hope it helps.

Darrell

Thanks for warning, but I was told that all the stations in this area got there petrol from Fawley refinery (Southampton) and was the same?!!!!!

Wouldnt that mean everyones fuel gives the same problem as they dont have seperate refinerys?

Regards

Dave

Update!!

also cases of filling up at Asda's!

avoid all supermarket fuel! LOL!!

See what happens? You vote in a petition to stop pay as you drive road pricing and the government contaminates the fuel to screw up your O2 sensors! Maybe there'll be a new O2 sensor tax in future....

You'll be OK though because you didn't vote so they have anti O2 contaminates in your cars.

Hey Paul is this affecting the Deisels as well?

no, dont have O2 sensors in diesels ;)

:nelson: arn't O2 and lamber sensors the same? cos this Truck of mine looks like its got a Lamba sensor in the Exhaust.

yup same thing! never seen a diesel with a lambda probe tho as they run in an excess of air anyway & dont rely on keeping to Lambda values.

sure its not a temp sensor? later cars with particulate filters have DPF upstream & downstream temp sensors.

what is?? i *was* only joking!!

Don't know. Not really paid much notice to it other than it has the same appearance as a lamber and just assumed thats what it was. It's a Ford Durratec 2.5 lump of crud and not very exiting.

How does the ECU read and ajust the fuel air values then. MAP sensor?

If only.....

Diesels work completely differently to petrol engines. If you notice there is no throttle flap on the intake, just open to air - hence why there's so little engine braking on a diesel. Also why you need vac pumps for the brake servo - no throttle flap, no manifold vacuum :) The engine load is controlled entirely by the fuel pump and there are no target AFRs to run to...

Exactly as Duffer said, they just inject more fule to go faster :)

And also a bit of FUEL for good measure ;)
