I have a Sony Radio/Cassette and a Sony CD changer. The Book of the Radio says it has CD-Text on it but I cant get it to work. Does the CD changer have to be compatible? I have searched the internet to find out if they both have to say CD-Text on them but cant find anything.

I have a Sony XR-C7500R Radio and a CDX-605 changer. Does anyone know how it all works?

isn't CD text actually on the CD itself. I had a Kenwood player with CD text and so far I've found that CD's produced by Sony only have text on them.

A mate told me if you burn your own CD, this will work too on CD text.

The changer unit has to be CD-TEXT compatible.

Hardly any original CD's have CD text on them.

If you copy an audio CD using Nero it does a CDDB lookup on the web for the title, track listing etc then burns that as CD-TEXT, it's pretty good.

Also if you burn CD's from MP3's it uses the file name for the CD text.

The changer will probably have the CD text logo on it if it is CD text. Most changers that have CD text onl read the CD title.

I have a writer on where I can put CD-TEXT on the cds I write. I know the CDX-601 has CD TEXT on, I have seen it on the internet. The 605 which I have is a model up from it but I cant find anything about it.

My Kenwood has CD text on it - Now the only Album i have Ever found that has CD Text support is "The W" by The Wu Tang Clan.

Bare in mind i buy about 5 CD's a month - then i would say there aren't too many with it on !

Jamiroquai's latest CD has CD Text, just album name and song titles are included AFAIK.

I don't think the CD Changer has to be compatible, just the head unit.

Regards,

Peter

The changer deffo has to be compatible to be able to read the data.

Rather annoyingly my changer is compatible but my head unit is not, which means it's all a waste of time. Only some newer CD's have CD-Text and they usually say on the sleeve somewhere. Sometimes they do other stuff too, I have an Aerosmith one that comes up with some sort of pretty presentation when you put it in a PC.

By the sounds of it my Head Unit is CDTEXT but my changer isnt even though they are sold together as a package and the CD Changer model below does have it on.

People how have cd writers, you can copy your cds and put it on. Your writer has to be able to do disc at once.

Nearly all CD writers these days are disc-at-once, I had a shit sony thing about 5 years ago that wasn't, was very frustrating.

The CD-Writer has to be CD text compatible too though.

Like I said before, if you use Nero to copy an audio CD it gets the track listing etc for you off the web so you don't have to type anything in.

I make copies of all my CD's for the car, to keep the originals safe in home and it works out nicely that I get the CD text. smile.gif

Dont tell me about the first CD writers. I had a mituumi one 2 Speed write. The lead in and lead out and finalisation took another 30 mins to do. It broke 13 months in to its 12 month warrenty. Cost me £190 about 4 years ago.

I bought a 32speed write yesterday. Does a full CD in 4 mins. Brilliant. I am sure my CD writer supports it. It was only manufactured 2 months ago
