Well just to start this thread off I want to say it’s not a sympathy thread, I just feel like I need to say what’s going on and share what I'm feeling.

Yesterday I got the news that one of my longest friends had passed away. Was completely out the blue. He had broken his leg, that’s it. Simple as that and it killed him.

A broken f*cking leg! He got deep Vein Thrombosis cos of the break and that was the actual cause of death, how rubbish is that though!

Took the whole of 20 min for everyone in the group to hear what had happened and within' the hour every one of us was down the pub to have our own little wake for him and comfort each other.

Was a feeling of complete disbelief and bizarreness to the whole occasion, we had all encountered death at some point, but it's meant for old people. Our Grand parents and old relatives, not our 30-year-old mates who were healthy!

Very sad evening and not nice waking up today knowing he's gone. Was a wicked bloke and the singer in the first formation of "Big Witch" known as "Digestive".

Anyway, RIP Tony Moorcraft will miss you loads fella.

make sure you take time to grieve and remember him for the good times as i am sure you will anyway.

Always better to celebrate a life than mourn for the loss of one, if that makes any sense

Oh Shit mate that's terrible News, I know how you feel, I have a freind in Stoke Mandaville Hospital at the moment of a similar age.

Turns your world upside down doesn't it.

Best wishes Mate, my thoughts are with you Bud.

R.I.P.

sad news Nick, condolences to you, his friends and family. As they say only the good die young.

Im really sorry for you mate :(

I think you had the right attitude to get down the pub and celebrate his life rather then mourn it fella, A very irish way of doing it, Drink and raise a glass and a smile to his life not a frown and sorrow.

You know that he would want you to get back playing asap, Again im really sorry and send you and his family my best wishes.

Wayne

Sorry to here about the sad loss of your friend mate. :(

So young, RIP Tony

Kind of puts some of the things we gripe about into prospective dont it.

Thats terrible Nick. When you consider a bloke jumped out of a plane and he's chute didnt open and he was vertually un injured? I feel for you mate. All the best and RiP Tony.

That's bloody tragic Nick, terrible news.

My brother was involved in a motorcycle accident (June '04) in Seville, Spain. Smashed his Tibia in 3 places and shattered his Patella in about 20 pieces. Went to hospital last December, for a ruitine operation, to remove a large pin from the centre of his Tibia. Ended up with an infection that nearly killed him.

You just cannot believe a broken leg can result in death.

My thoughts are with his family and of course, all his friends.
