You'd sound like a right tw@t if you pronounced them like as in scon ;)

Now Im getting peckish thinking about it......Tw@ts :D

Scone, to rhyme with cone, because it's got a "magic e". Anybody else remember Wordy?

I've heard of space cakes but never by putting E's in them

Its scone as in the Stone on which they were originally baked. They are originally Stone Cakes which was shortened to scone.

M8...my ex-mother-in-laws cakes were actually made from stone...honest :p

stone cakes = scones :D = cakes made from stone, im not joking they were tuff as hell, incinerated at 1000 c for 10 hrs, spitefully served up with a nice bile flavoured fondant icing ;)

Tis indeed the correct pronounciation!

"Scon" is more likely a regional dialect (probably from the north ;) ) that has become entwined in every day language.

As for the breakfast one - yes the word does mean to break one's fast (ie first meal after fasting) but in English is has come to be pronounced "brekfast" over the years as it just rolls (not scones) easier off the tongue :p

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
