Thanks to your previous advice i have know bought a donar car its only done 43k & was mint b4 the smash it belonged to a friend of mine. It was Z32 N/A.

For the conversion to a TT i believe i need to alter/grind the bellhousing , both are jspec lwb ?

Also do i need an uprated clutch while im at this stage, will not be running above 375bhp max prolly around 350bhp & that wont be until i do other jobs 1st, about 3 months time.

Or is there any advise from somebody who has done this or does them often do i need to replace flywheel, gasgets, seals etc

thanks in advance 4 your help

You will need to change the bell housing from your TT gearbox to the NA box for it to fit. The clutch is a matter of choice but that said if your pushing out that sort of power, I would definitely install an uprated clutch. Even on a standard car they can slip under harsh treatment. When doing the conversion you will have to remove the torque convertor and mounting plate from the rear of the engine. You will also have to change the spigot bush as they are different sizes on the manual. It then that you should change the rear crankshaft oil seal, they are only cheap (£13 ish) and can only be changed with the gearbox out or when the engine is removed. You might want to get a TT clutch pedal as the NA is slightly shorter which may affect pressure as less leaverage but also very noticeable once mounted alongside the brake pedal.

Martin,

Sorry to say you have to compromise now as your choice of fitting an N/A manual conversion into a twin turbo was ill informed.

Firstly the non turbo box has a smaller internal diameter so a twin turbo flywheel WILL NOT fit, the bell housing is not interchangable as the gearbox bell housing and main body is cast as one peice.

Talk of grinding the cast and spacing out the starter is somewhat a Heath Robinson job, also the compromises with internals still exist.

The non turbo propshaft is smaller and has a different fitting arrangement, the non turbo does not have a booster and accordingly the clutch pedal is different.

The power you are running will compromise any standard non turbo clutch, an upgraded clutch will be heavy with out the booster.

Although the gear ratio`s are the same the non turbo gear sets are not designed for use with a standard twin turbo let alone an uprated one.

The conversion is possible and has been done many times but a twin turbo donor car would have been a better bet to be honest.

Good luck anyhow.

Well thats very interesting because i was informed that there would be no compromise whatsoever .........................

& that it he had done it many times with no problems or comebacks & it was Mark at Zen Garage which answered my previous post. To be honest i value his opinion

No offence was meant in my reply, I just read it, I had not seen any previous post by Martin regarding using a non turbo box in a twin turbo.

What I was saying was concerning the technical merits of the conversion and that they were compromised NOT impossible or WRONG, if your happy to have the compromise then thats just fine no problem.

Mark I appologise if you thought otherwise, I was not even aware you were involved.

There were unconfirmed reports that some of the internals are uprated but never heard of anyone having trouble with the conversion, so whatever they uprated didn't make much difference

This is part of the reply ive copy/paste from orignal post,

I thank all for your replies to my post, if it is a compromise the fact i know the donor car & it was a very low mileage excellent example 43k that hasnt been thrashed, is comforting as oppossed to fitting a 120k TT box thats been mullered.
